Aw Tom, nobody said it was gonna be easy to follow that inner urge to create something you've never tried before. Keep at it! Jo

Jo, Every type of project I get into, rock related or otherwise,IS a learning experience for me. I've been into soooooooo many things but haven't found my "niche" yet! LOL Jack of all trades,,,,but I'd LOVE to be master of just one! connrock

Toad,,, Yes Christmas is just around the corner and I've got myself in a real bind here trying to complete all of these pieces.I thought I started early enough back in October but I still have a long way to go.
I'm VERY reluctant to post photos as this type of work has almost nothing rock relater at all. The ONLY thing remotely close to rocks will be the sand I will use for the beach. It's sand that I recovered from tumbling through the years and never knew what to do with it! LOL
These projects are VERY slow moving(kinda like the guy doing them) so progress it at a crawl. So far I have a copper beach umbrella that's in a 15 lb rotary with walnut shell/red rouge at this very moment.I have a little guy laying down with his head propped up on a small pillow with his legs crossed.I made a VERY small set of sun glasses for the guy yesterday and that's a s far as I got with this so far,,,other then playing with glue and sand! LOL
These pieces are NOTHING special in that they are made from nuts, bolts, copper wire and plate, coat hangers, steel plate and other various fasteners I have here.
The one I made for my wife is a woman standing at a kitchen stove flipping an egg in a fry pan,,,a coffeepot on the stove,a small copper broom and paper towel anger.Problem is,,,,the woman looks more like a Gargoyle then a woman! LOL Oh well,,,

The sandy beach turned out much better then I expected. No matter what type of spray bottle I tried or mixture of glue/water/alcohol or dish soap,I couldn't get the glue to spray.
I ended up cutting a piece of an old towel and gluing it to the base with E-6000 glue.I put the white glue/water/alcohol onto the towel with a small spoon until the towel was wet enough for the sand to stick to it and sprinkled on the sand with another spoon.I did one small section at a time and put more sand then needed to make sure there was enough of it(on the towel) after it dried. I let it sit for 2 days to make sure all the glue was dry and then shook off the sand that didn't stick.I found 3 very small areas that needed more sand,,,,about the size of an eraser on a pencil so I put more glue and sand on those areas, let it dry overnight and then added all the other parts of the total beach scene. I forgot to mention that I glued very small sea shells to the towel with E-6000 glue before I put any sand on so the shells would look more natural being partially buried in the sand.
I won't post photos of this piece or any of the others because they are Christmas gifts and my photo site is public and my family looks at the site often. After Christmas I will post only a link here to the photos(for those interested) as they are not rock related.
Steve thought he cut it close and has finished his pieces already.I still have 3 to go and only hope I can get then finished before Christmas Eve!
Merry Christmas to all of you! connrock

From what you tell, it's looking good. Great idea to glue the shells firstly to look partly burried.
