Glad I could make someone happy.
The Shark Tooth Hill pics were posted in another thread a few years back. Just thought I'd post them again for the new folks. I'll dig out a few more to re-post.

I'll dig out a few more to re-post. that would be wonderful. my eldest 'gets' the wonder of the inverts we find in our region a little more than the brothers but they ALL 'get' shark and megalodon teeth. btw, i've seen what turns up in south carolina low counmtry and may well take them there to look when they're just a bit older. thanks again for sharing.

A friend offered me $400.00 for it after seeing only pics of it. He buys & sells rocks. I knew that if he was offering me that much, he was planning on doubling his money. The area that this Cycad came from was not noted for Cycads or opalized wood of any type. Last I checked, this was the only opalized piece ever found there. That makes it a very rare and valuable specimen piece.

Then very foolish to cut it. It has the appearance alone of not being a cutter. It looks expensive and of the museum persuasion. Museum piece = collected by the old fella. Any fossil palm is fine.

Jim, I have one piece of palm that I'll never cut too. Found in the green ash hills just east of Calico Ghost Town in California. That site had been pretty much picked clean by years of collecting when I found it. I've always wondered how many rockhounds kicked it out of the way because it just didn't look like palm. It has a very heavy desert tarnish on it that hides almost all appearance of being palm. Just one tiny spot about dime size that showed the eyes. Oh, I wasn't an old fella when I collected the Cycad. I was barely in my teens when I found it.

jakesrocks, somehow missed your opalized cycad fossil that you self-collected back in the day. It's gorgeous! How large is the bee in the shale?

Fly / Bee is about 1/3 the size of the pic. Need to get back on my Trilobite collection. Only about 20,000 more to have a complete collection. LOL

My latest. I normally don't trust fossils from Morocco, but this one is from a trusted seller who personally inspects everything he buys for resale.
