Jim, send me an uncooked hunk of that, I'll cut it up and make spheres, you cook them, then I'll polish them.
I am using diamond. The tough material is not an issue.

This is the problem Scott. I cut a bunch of slabs and then cooked them. They are ruined. Because of the saw lubricant. They turned mildewed and charcoaled-(burned saw oil) I did not want to run water lub in my saw for lots of reasons.
So you would say-cook a big chunk and then saw it. Well, it's not always the same. Most coral cooks with different color on the outside than on the inside. This one cooked the same all the way thru. Dammit
Is this the color you were liking one time? When the water goes down I will pursue this brand for sure.
Probably best to cut 4 inch cube and cook it and then grind the burnt layer off. I am not sure how thick the layer is. And its not that pretty unless I cook it.I just cut the slabs to see if they would burn. My buddy cuts and then cooks-same oil, but he does not do coral. You know, I do have another head of this texture that is big. What makes it worthwile-3 or 4 inch shpere?

yes 3-4" is awesome size.
Do you still have the charred slabs? Break on and see how deep the char is.

I see coral in your future Tela(wind howling and in a deep voice speaking into Scott's coral sphere)

The stain goes away when it dries. Nevermind that problem. Let me see what I can do.

I think it is mostly iron Carlos. Need to figure out a flame test or something so I will know what the heat will do.

I am putting together a mfrb of baseball size coral together Scott. I have sawn a coral head that will heat to about the color of the one one this thread. May go yellow in the center though. It is super dense and will have zero pith. I am sawing it into submission and will cook soon. The other corals (5) are baseball size and a couple pretty sexy. The yellow faces are where I broke bigger pieces after heat. The other half of Your chunk before saw/heat is #1 Reducified before heat Dense like

Maybe it will look like Saturn and he can make a plasma ring to surround it.
I had to look up those words Wild Bill. And then I remembered talking into Scott's sphere about Tela's future. I gotta start getting more rest:>

I found 2 pieces of this particular coral Pat. One was 70 pounds and the other is the 10 pounder #1 above. I never pursued it as it is boring until it is heated. Next chance I will load up.

Blood red coral. Killer
Question. That one that is marked 8, is that the pattern or something marked on it?

i got chuh, i got chuh.
Washing away? You mean because of all the rain? Been miissing here. Flooding in spots that the storms did hit. Storms seem to always break up when they hit St Louis and split, going just barely north and south. I dont know how many times Ive sat outside and watched killer storms that just barely missed. Just last night watched a killer lightning storm.
Temps have been abnormally low for this time of year. Only really had about three weeks of killer heat so far. Been high in the 80s for the last three weeks. Humid though.
This asphalt company Im working with on the interstate has been cancelling all week because of the rain chances. Half of the time it hasnt even rained but if we go out there they have to pay out like a couple grand if we show up, depending on how big the crew is.

There has been years when the storms dodge me too. It's like someone is mad:) I knew you work outside and was curious if you were getting to work. The jet stream has wedged water over my coral rivers and my bustbutt business is about over. Begging for the rain to quit so I can go treasure hunting

Oh... gosh. Brad I had to look where you live. In 1994'ish I visited "East St. Louis". Which, the exact year I was there, was the murder capitol of the US. rockpickerforever did you do IHS in St. Louis? East St. Louis is nothing like any city I have ever seen.
