Yes, my one attempt to make a septarian sphere was a bust. I had a nearly round nodule, put it in the sphere machine as it - it went round in less than an hour, but no calcite - ran it until calcite showed, but by the time I saw a bit of calcite I had reached the lower limit of the size limitation for the machine.

Do you still have it? I can solve the problem if you do. Use pipe "nipples" to extend the reach of the motor shafts. That in effect moves the motors farther from the center of the machine. This simple hack allows a 3-8" machine to make tiny widdle marbles. Tho' probably not this tiny:

Yuppers, fossilized "septarian" mudball............Found those in Montana alot, but most were crappie(full of hard mud),very few that were worth keeping,so I just quit picking them up... Most of the ones I seen and found were only fist size and smaller........I have one that was cut,its packed up somewhere..The other one I gave away, they wanted it more than I did-LOL

When they get this small I sand and polish them on the Genie - it's on the list. It just wasn't a good rock for that project. At least it went round fast.

I have found it here in Wyoming too. What I found was starting to fall apart. It looked to me like dried dirt that has cracked and separated (brecciated) then filled in with calcite. The fill in was fairly crystalline. I broke it apart and the dirt would separate from the veins. Jim

Just found one of mine this morning-sitting in my junk pile of rocks..Its about the size of an arm bone and about four inches long...Maybe I should get it cut on the end and polished...
