Well I'm trying to get back on the wagon around here. In the midst of the crazy I managed to get to the Denver show for just a few hours one morning. There is an outfit that brings truckloads of fossils from Morocco and I am able to pick them up fairly reasonably. I went a little heavier this year than last, thinking I might be able to sell some of them and start having this whole hobby maybe start paying me back (yeah RIGHT!) Anyhow, here is the overcrowded fossil shelf, where most of my collection lives. Here are the detail shots of many of the new fossils I picked up this year: Pyritized Ammonites Cut and polished Ammonite halves Coral Sand Dollar Mososaur (sp?) teeth Some new trilobites I've not had a ton of luck yet finding many fossils so being able to buy them inexpensively is nice. The kids really enjoy them too!

Those are very nice John. I especially like the ammonite halves. I haven't been to the Denver show yet, but I am curious if all the trilobites at the show were sold as real and authentic and "as found in substrate"? As greatly discussed on the internet, there are a lot of unscrupulous dealers of Moroccan fossils that sell reproductions or reconstructions without telling you. Many I have seen are excellent quality, but reproductions none the less. I am no expert and sometimes I have a hard time detecting repro's, but because of this I shy away from Moroccan (and Chinese) fossils.

The ammonite halves are super and with the pockets are probably difficult to copy but when I saw the trilobites my first thought was "I hope he got real ones". I saw copies in China that an expert had to study for a while to tell the difference. Same with jade. Anyway, I do not want to to take away from your collection because it is way cool. I am not a display kind of person but I would do the same as you and display those where I could see them all the time. Jim

Yes John, I too want you to know that you have a great collection. It was not my point to detract at all from it. I cannot tell authenticity without having those in hand and also knowing the price you paid. And even then I maybe couldn't tell. And even if they are replicas, if they are well done that might all you are looking for as they make terrific display specimens and you don't have to worry so much if they get broken, etc.

I'm pretty sure the Ammonites are real but I can't say one way or the other about the trilobites.
I'm pretty sure the teeth are all real though.
I'm halfway tempted to cut into some of them just to see

Yeah I didn't know what was worse, that my wife didn't know they were teeth or that she seemed so impressed.
