As bobby1 says, get bars from Bob Lewis. Perfect and a fair price. you have to be able to slab them or have them slabed.

So if its slabbed for a cap on a cab how do you get it clear? Do you flat lap the slabs to polish them before glueing on the cab? Do you flat lap thThanks, Bille top of tge cab b4 glueing? What kinda glue is gonna be as optically clear as the quartz?

What kinda glue is gonna be as optically clear as the quartz? Some may disagree but I've made a lot of Spencer opal triplets and this approach worked well for me: just grind both the cab surface and the quartz slab flat to about 600 grit; they need not be polished. Epoxy 330 worked well for me to create a "window" for the unpolished quartz. I have triplets I cut 30 years ago that are still strongly bonded. I haven't experimented with some of the newer adhesives like Hxtal or UV-activated glues. The only problems I had with 330 were bubbles and gravity. After mixing I'd warm it gently under a light bulb to make it more fluid. After putting the quartz in place I'd use top pressure to force the bubbles out, then held it in place with a wooden clothespin or a weight to keep it from moving during the 24 to 36-hour drying time. I could probably cut you some if you need them, I think I still have a few points left that are big enough to slab. Let me know what sizes and how many you need. Tony

If you only need 1 or 2, there is also the option (if you aren't doing giant-size cabs) of using watch crystals for caps. They come in fused quartz mineral glass, spinel and sapphire from most any watch repair catalog or on-line parts site. A bit more expensive (especially for spinel/sapphire), tho.
