Looks really nice Tela. That bail adds a shot of bling to that piece. In my minds eye is suits the cab and shape!

Very nice. You've obviously got the artistry part down, (that was always obvious in your wire-wrapping) the technical stuff will come. Beautiful artistic piece.

Gorgeous cab and the mounting accentuates it nicely. Good eye there kiddo!
As far as the unsoldered part, you can carefully roll back the bezel from the stone and add solder where needed. You will have to repolish the whole mount, but that might be better than leaving a gap in the bezel. Just some more good practice for you:-)

Your designs just feel so different and fresh (I hate to sound like a car salesman, but have to!). If these are your learning curve I can't wait to see what you consider 'perfect'.

Thank you everyone. radio Is there an easy way to get the stone out? I tried a little, but the stone is pretty easy to scratch so I really worry abt it. I would redo this, if I could get the stone out. It really broke my heart when I saw that that piece wasn't soldered. I put it in pickle, pulled it out, visually inspected it, pulled it and it seemed fine. I tumbled it for a while, set the stone and then noticed. The only thing I can think is that I didn't pickle long enough so the baked flux was sticking pretty good and tumbling loosened it.

The only thing I can think is that I didn't pickle long enough so the baked flux was sticking pretty good and tumbling loosened it. It kind of depends on the thickness of the bezel you used whether it is practical to unmount the stone. Really thin bezel is very difficult to unmount. I use a knife I modified from a small kitchen paring knife to very carefully work under the edge of the bezel and gently work my way around the edges lifting a little bit at a time. Be careful not to take too big of a "bite" with the knife or you will make small indentations in the bezel which are the devil to get out. After you get the edges turned up enough, you can use the pointed end of your burnishing tool to roll the bezel back enough to get the stone out If you do this, please be very careful using the knife. I repair a lot of Native American jewelry, so have become pretty proficient at unmounting stones so pieces can be soldered. I looked on line and can't find a video of how to unmount stones, or would have posted the link. Maybe I need to have the wife make a quickie vid of me unmounting a bezel set stone one of these days.

I use a razor blade. An exacto knife also works great.

Very nice pendant Tela, Don't feel bad it has happened to all of us. I have gotten in the habit of after I take it out of the pickle I run a small wire wheel around the inside of the bezel and the rest of the piece. I find it helps clean out the joint and make any non soldered areas more visible.

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. I'm really happy to know that I am not the only person this has happened to because it sure felt like it.

I think this belongs in the Joke Section! LOL I don't do a lot of jewelery any more but when I do,,,,I'm ALWAYS doing more "damage control" then anything! It's amazing how much damage can be done in a millisecond and how long it takes to get the ship afloat again! connrock

Yes, I have noticed the ratio between mistake time and fix it time. Very unfair, I tell you. Should be the other way around! LOL!

I am still very inexperienced, just about every project (OK all of them) have damage control:). The more I do the better I get. And the better you will get as well Tela. The big thing you have going for you is your artistic vision, you see a project in your mind that is tasteful and beautiful and original bet err than a lot of others can, pick me:). The mechanical side will come along with practice, you have the important part down pat
