Howdy herchenx, sorry for just getting to the update but I was tired last night, so unfortunately no pics....but the slurry was thick grey paste like...took a little work to get the rocks cleaned, just kept one out, one emerald I thought about taking out it was almost perfect, but I figured why settle for almost perfect, so put it back in for perfection...The aquas are giving me the hardest time....I don't think they will ever be to satisfaction for me.....but I put everything back in and some of the rocks tony sent me to top everything back up to 3/4 full, 3 tbsp. coarse, 8 oz. water...and shes running again...some of the smalls where done, some nice quartz and stuff I think but too small to really mess with sorting through as tired as I was, just kept them in, as I really only inspected the large pieces

and dammit I just realized I did 8 oz's of water instead of tbl spoons...so I just screwed up again should never had did it as tired as I was=/, atleast it was still lower than the bottom layer of top rocks.....Im gonna just have to let it go like that for 10 days, I don't want to be wasteful with my grit and dump it out

yeah just let it run. It may be runny but the grit will still work on them

Being a newcomer to tumbling I'm watching the progress of this one. Looking forward to seeing the first clean out.

Second clean out tonight, not much has changed. Things are gradually getting smoother. I will say larger tumblers are faster on the size and hardness of agates I'm tumbling, I put some Bahia's in a 12# with other similar stuff and several were already moving on to stage 2.
I'll check it again on or about May 2.

Just loaded 4 three pound barrels with this recipe, Obsidian got ceramics and pet wood got plastic to make them 3/4+ full....will report back on the 31st of April after they are done with their ten day run. May just try the same ratio for my 6 pound Lortone, but it only roughs obsidian out for the vibe and I am not sure if I wanna screw with what I have working for me right now LOL

Hey John, I'm about as experienced as you are, but I'm still enjoying this discussion. It's fun to see other people's procedure.
Are you going to do anything about the vug in the rock that is in the fourth picture from the bottom? I would cut that rock horizontally so the vug is removed. I'd be afraid to leave it because it could carry grit to later stages. I also like my rocks to be completely free of imperfections if I can (usually I don't accomplish this, but it's a goal). If you would normally leave it, I'd love to see a picture of the end result.

I just use Hot Stuff cyanoacrylate (super glue) and fill the holes then let it cure for 24 hours and toss em back in the tumbler rather than messing with sawing anything (I still only have bigger saws and no little 4 or 5 inch trim saw) LOL
