This one is built on a thick lucite pedestal. Each half is ground to lay back at the correct angle. Pins are set and the halves get a small lucite base epoxied to them. The finial is a baby tumbled coral. The pipe is bent by i using a hand held pipe bender welded to a table with an extended handle. The coral halves are interchangeable. The coral is an incomplete silicification, with a bit pithy chunk floating in a frozen pool of whiskey colored chalcedony(how did i do). These incomplete silicifications can give a cool floating effect. My wife stole this one classifying her as a felon. Need meals cooked so not turning her in....

Excellent description, lamp is really cool. Your wife has excellent taste. That looks pretty heavy, not easy to knock over.

"Whiskey colored" is very descriptive... Better than something else I can think of that is that color, lol.

We have a high-end store here that sells all sorts of rock related items. Specimens, carvings, agate oil lamps, I bet they might like those a lot.

Jean, could you take a vernier and measure starting from the bottom every inch to the top of The Fighting Cock bottle?
At the widest point?

Do you really think I'd fall for that twice, James? I think it's only three inches, but some women like them that wide. Oh, wait, that was something else Danged if it isn't three inches wide, it's just a small bottle - 200ml. It was gifted to me a long time ago, since I used to collect chickens and cocks roosters;) Disbanded most of the flock when it started getting out of control. Still have a little chicken sh!t laying about, but keep it confined to one area, not all over the house.

I figured their was a story/sentiment for that bottle. I never thought for a minute that you were not aware of malice in those requests.
I will say that you displayed great talent with shaft measurements using a vernier.

I will say that you displayed great talent with shaft measurements using a vernier. Years of practice, James, years of practice. Although I think technically, the plant has a stalk or stem, not a shaft...

Okay, James, I'll let it slide - this time, lol!
Temp got down to 45 degrees last night - invigoratingly cold, for here in April! Especially when you consider they are forecasting 94 - 95 degrees by next Wednesday/Thursday. May have to check moisture level several times a day then. Should get up into low 70s today.
Back to the pitcher plant... Checked on it this morning, and the flower stalk has become even more erect, the flower head is now pointing down only slightly. jamesp , I had previously asked you some questions concerning pollination but didn't get an answer. You must've missed them. I had asked:
Still waiting for an answer (tapping my foot, with arms crossed in front of me). I've attempted to smell the flower, but cannot discern any noticeable fragrance, good or bad.

Wow, really like the coral lamp, jamesp! Don't blame your wife for stealing it, and glad you didn't have her arrested for the crime.
