I cut this up last night and I have no clue what it is. Brownish rock with orange and blue spots. Thanks, Andrea

Kind of looks like Llanite. Right colors but I've never seen the colored specks that large. Was it granite hard to cut?

No it wasn't very hard to cut. I was pretty easy compared to other things I've been cutting. I've never cut granite before so I can't compare.

Yup. Llanite or more properly LLanoite. Comes from neat Llano Texas right close to where I live.....Mel

That's too funny... mr.mohs just put up a picture of one of his hearts today and it was supposed to be this same stuff (if you check the thread you'll see it's what he was told it was when he bought the slab but there's some question on the color). When it rains, it pours Llanite??

I picked up some of this last year. Nice looking material and it looks like you got a great piece to slab. I started thinking "kitchen counter"...but my wife said NO (we've already got a nice black granite counter top )

too be even more specific
That heart that I posted I was told it was llanite by the vendor. But by the time I worked the material I had forgotten what the vendor had told me. This was couple years ago.
I even posted a heart made of that material at that time. (one could look it up) It may be the very re-worked heart that I just posted
When I made the original post a couple years ago. A member at that time had mentioned that the material was llanite. That rang a bell as to what the vendor had told me. I then did a cursory search and found material that had the blue spots with the black matrix. Just like my material. I think. It seemed to be pretty official web site with description of llanite material. I guess llanite is real abundant in that area of Texas and even gravestones are made of it. Anyway I had no reason to doubt my ignorance.
I don’t want to mislead anyone. Not my intention. I’m not well versed in all the geological subtleties There is like over 4000 mineral types. I take a lot for granite.
So when it rains llanite it pours out lots of type words. Always my pleasure…mostly Now that were little clearer on the type of llanite I have, I wished had bought more this past weekend at the Anthem show But that was a missed opportunity & a long BIG story
