Hello, friends! Some two months ago, I started to raise a barbeque in the yard. I firstly bought some 550 fire resistant bricks (2nd hand) and then started the work. Because of the capricious weather, things went slow, which is not too bad because there was enough time in between the stages for the grout and concrete to cure. Here are the pictures of the construction of the barbeque. I think the pictures tell the story better than I could. It's not ready yet, but it's close. Here's a special stone - an AZ pet wood - which I used as the key of the arch. You'll notice it better in the following pictures: Finally, after cleaning the bricks and removing the styropor cast of the arch, here's how the barbeque is looking now: As you see, the barbeque has a working space in the left side of the fire-place. The hollow in the left side of the concrete slab would host a sink. You can also notice the embedded stainless steel rod in the upper side, in order to be able to hang some pot above the fire: And here is a close-up with the key of the arch (the pet wood I mentionned before): Thank you for looking, Adrian

Great BBQ Adrian,,,,,,I can tell by the clothes that you and the workers have on that the weather was still cool out there! The leaves on our trees have just started to come out a little and mostly only have the "buds" on them yet! Your BBQ will last forever and the Arizona Pet Wood is a nice touch! connrock

Wow, Adrian, that is really special! Great design, and I love the way it was constructed. That will serve you well for a couple of lifetimes. Jean
PS - Your calico cat is special, too. A calico - tabby, or caliby. Something you don't see that often.

Thank you everyone! Ed, the cat is not for eating, she's only inspecting the works Tom, you're right there was cold here and also moist. Jean, we love our calico cat. Although she's 12 years old, she enjoys very much the yard. Brian, haha, you know about mititei! Come on for some, what are you waitin' for? Adrian

A big trend is wood ovens here in Atlanta, especially a pizza oven. I see them with store bought components. But nothing is better than shear mass of masonry. That is the cat's meow of what high end resteraunts are after. It is a booming trend to cook out w/fancy set-ups like yours. Love the concrete table and built in sink. And the floor drain-yo. Wood fuel is cheap and gets the job done. Unique to have a low level firebox, much less two of them.

Jim is right. This is hot out here too. Entire kitchens made of masonry and a few folks no longer cook inside instead preferring to ook with wood out of doors.
Adrian - have you made used your gorgeous new oven?

Designing the draw and the proper configuration is a big deal on masonry. Is that your design or did you have consultation? The old chimneys standing in the forest around here are rather sophisticated. Chimney builders are true artist and technical know hows. That system has a lot going on for a compact space.

Hello again! We finished the barbeque these days, completely. Firstly, raising the chimney: Then I added the grill, made of stainless steel rods: Then, finishing the working area (the granite cover and the sink). The electrical wiring is also complete (see the lamp): And here it is, done: In the pic above you can spot a round table in the gazebo. I built that table from 2 by 8 timber. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pics during construction, other than this one: And here's the finished table. It has 1.40 m in diameter and can host comfortably 8 persons. To be fully completed, a few RTH-ers are now needed next to the BBQ and around the table. Anyone willing? Thanks for looking, Adrian
