Interesting little unit of instruction, always good to learn something every day. Thanks. There's a guy here who has the ability to get onto publicly owned areas that are closed to the public {nice oxymoron}, finds some good fossil things and puts on a little show now and then. Fun to go to, but we like yours better. Larry I have a friend that got a warning for collecting in a state park in Florida. We had been there a good bit and never knew. Now he has to be very careful not to get caught again.(felon..) For 20 years I have fooled around in those rivers and never seen a warden. He is a new comer and gets hammered right off. and lives right close to these spots. messed him up good. Florida is buying much of the river frontage and controlling it. I have to about find survey markers to know that I am not on 'their' lands. i will say, that the Georgia frontage is controlled/owned by the timber people. They get away with all kinds of environmental no-no's. Like clearing land right up to the rivers edge and not paying attention to EPA set-backs. I rarely see stream bank damage from this. Clear close to a water way in Atlanta and they will bankrupt you.
