Well worth all the effort it seems. Thanks for sharing pics and info. Interesting to say the least, to see what others hound and the lengths they go thru to get what they get Rock hunting is an excuse to get out and explore too. But it does require effort.

Never need an excuse to go exploring "Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit." -Frank Borman The coral I hunt just happens to be in pretty locations, especially the Suwannee River and the Keys off of the west coast of Florida. The rock books give me ideas on parking and path. The rest is history, it's all Frank Borman from there. Great quote transcendental.

Yeah there's nothing quite like getting out into nature especially paths less traveled. Even more especially when fossils are involved. To be the first person to find something hidden for so long, never seen by a human until you come along and pluck it from the earth... There's nothing like it.

Fossils take it to another level, because they are from another time and habitat.

Nothing I like more than to get a good pinch of snuff, turn off the ringer on my phone, and go wandering though the woods.

Like the Who song, piles and piles and piles ROFL, jamesp! Awesome piles!! That ain't half of it Jan. Oddly, collecting from a boat allows heavy payloads. I dread going back to the boat ramp to unload each day. I am systematic but my back is still done in after each trip. After 3 days my truck is about maxed out in weight. I noticed my fancy 303S saw blade is running out of diamond. Too much cutting. Coral is big and hard material. And the coral collected from locations with no boat ramp require climbing steep bluff. That really kicks me. I remember sending Helen and her husband to Zephyr Hills to a creek with banks from hell. Laughing She came back crying from soreness. Slick clay banks. I warned her. I crack up laughing every time I think about it.

Cannot imagine hauling the coral up steep embankments. Those are huge pieces in your piles! Definitely believe it's worth the hard work 'cause it sure is gorgeous stuff. I remember sending Helen and her husband to Zephyr Hills to a creek with banks from hell. Laughing She came back crying from soreness. Slick clay banks. I warned her. I crack up laughing every time I think about it. I remember Helen's thread about her fossil collecting trip from the directions you gave to her. ROFL, jamesp, you are a hoot!! Wonder what the Chinese Ninja Hero is doing these days.
