Well I'm behind on reports, and I've got a ton to do but I wanted to pop what I could here real fast. I'm going to take the easy way out and post a link to an external gallery of some highlights of the day. I was able to say a quick hi to johnjsgems and his wife at his booth, and picked up some mineral specimens and nice larimar from a dealer. We left the Coliseum and went to lunch, to find a whole venue I was unaware of until we left lunch, I picked up some nice fossil batches and may try wrapping the smaller ammonites. Anyhow here is the gallery: plus.google.com/101841476198676228439/stories/c935b30e-c6ba-3311-ab95-ff6b2da8c33b1484dbce3fd?authkey=CMGCs-SUmo-o5wEI hope folks can see it. --tangent-- thw reason im so busy at the moment is that I'm working furiously to get my office and cabbing areas "handicap accessible". I went to see the surgeon about my knee this week and he explained how bad things are and that time was of the essence as my knee is getting repeatedly damaged. The stuff I know is wrong is my ACL is completely torn, PCL partially torn, meniscus torn and apparently folded double (causing the current pain and swelling that kicked all this off) bad baker's cyst on the back of the knee caused by another tear in the back of the knee and at least one other thing I'm forgetting. I canceled my gold panning trip next week and got the paperwork to cancel my hunting license - the doc said if I damaged the cartilage any worse he couldn't repair it, but thinks he can salvage what's there now. Not looking forward to recovery but I'm going to try and stay busy on things I'd otherwise neglect if I were more active.

You know, John, I have a Sawzall up here and we can just eliminate that whole bad knee thing.
Just kidding, hope you can get that fixed up and get on with things. Thanks for posting the pics. I had hoped to run down there the end of the week, but the weather guessers are saying cold/snow, so I guess I'll be here covering plants. Such is life.

Dang John, that does not sound good. As a fellow long suffering knee injury guy ( since HS basketball) I sympathize with your problems. Riding in a knee brace for a bit now and in this hot weather, I'm not enjoying it. Hope your doctor can get you all fixed up soon! We all love your field trip reports.....Mel

I'm sorry to hear about your knee. I know how these problems can take over your life. But, like Deb says, it looks like you are being very proactive. I wish you the best. Great report. Love the animation! Brings a whole new look to it. Let us know how you like working that larimar.

Let us know how you like working that larimar. Tela - what is the word on cabbing larimar - is it difficult? It sure is pretty. Cheers.

Hope the recovery is quick John. There is still a lot of hounding to finish ya know.
When I grow up I am going to be a computer wizz so I can do cool trip reports like yours. And the ammonites are the best I have ever seen. Way cool. Jim

Just so everyone knows the cool animation was automatic from Google Plus. I take pics on my phone, have Google plus set to auto backup, and it automatically does the cool stuff to it (I'm not that cool) I just add captions It can do like a day at a time so it won't help me on my big road trip report that im a month late on

Hey Andy, without hi jacking the thread.... let me just say that there was another thread in the cabs section where many people mentioned how difficult it was to cab. It tends to chip off in big pieces. Hope you have good luck with yours, John. Maybe mine was just low quality. Let us know how it goes. You might want to start with 220.

Wishing your surgeon steady hands and great skill and wishing you a very speedy recovery! Great trip report. I like the extra flare with Google Plus.

Thanks everyone for the warm well wishes. I'm going to spend 2 nights at the hot springs car camping and soaking (I leave tomorrow) I'm hoping to get my head clear, get some relief from my aching knee and enjoy (what I think is) my last time out this year.
