I'd call it a sculpture - and a really nice one at that.
But I wonder what a lightning stone sphere would look like inside a different mineral? Alabaster, soapstone, something different...
Not a criticism, just wondering.

WOWWWZERS! I like that piece of art a lot! Sometimes Mother Nature just needs a little (or a lot) of coaxing to show her real beauty.

Like the tone of your colours here. There is something really soothing to it.
No idea about the black areas, but there is one area that could be a spray of some sort of tourmaline?

here in my Michigan rocks and minerals book it says both pyrolusite and magnetite form fan shaped crystal arrangements. I see a mild fan shape arrangement. There is a photo of pyrolusite on Calcite in the book. hope this helps point at an answer.

There are times I "say" something using a computer keyboard that just don't come out the way I mean them too! LOL When I said "metal/rock head" I was referring to making things out of metal and rocks and not the R&R type of metal! I do play guitar and have for many years but "my" music and yours are in 2 different time zones! Me and 1 of my acoustics on the cover of my 1 song CD! My "recording studio",,,,, The 1 song on my 1 song CD,,,,when you open the link you will see,,,,Tom Kuzia - Track 01 (1).mp3,,,just "hover" over it and you will see a >,,,just click on that arrow and the song should play,,,,, linkYou have a GREAT studio and WAY beyond anything I can comprehend! connrock

I tried listening to the track also, but it wouldn't play...something to do with java error. When I tried to download and clicked the boxes, the download option disappeared. Strange. Looks like a nice acoustic you got. The inlays are sweet! That recorders not too bad. I started out with a four track cassette recorder back in the day. I still use the same drum machine I bought in 1986. I use the sequencer to control my computer drum samples. Anyway...just another money-pit hobby!
