John, 40-50 years ago I read in Reader's Digest about a guy that could only move one finger. He spent his nights talking to troubled teens on the phone and was a powerful influence in his community.
You will recover and be able to do much more than that!
Best always, Dave.

Hang in there, prayers continuing and all of us are pulling for you... This time next year it will all be a memory. Keep on keeping on, concentrate on healing! Very pretty consolation present, by the way. Plenty to look at and enjoy right there.

You sure have been through the wringer. I feel badly for you. There is always a brighter side, though.

December 12 Update to second surgery ------------------------------------ Doc went in and the metal end of the ACL had ground up a bunch of bone and left scar tissue in the knee. He removed the ACL that he put in in September, cleaned out all the bone fragments and scar tissue, and put in bone grafts to get the bone back to usable condition. I was in surgery 2 and a half hours and have been sore all week and struggling with staying awake and getting around. I CAN walk which is great, but I will be in a straight leg brace for 6 weeks 24x7. The other good news is that the cartilage healed up really well so as long as I don't damage that again I can look forward to one more surgery (third time's a charm?) to put the second ACL into the new bone that will hopefully be healed by then. It's been a rough week. I'm tired and disappointed. On the up side I got a consolation gift for myself in the mail; spessartite garnet and smoky quartz specimen! Very sorry to hear about the complications you've been having with your knee, herchenx, but hoping that it heals well so you may have the final surgery. Wow, your spessartine and smoky quartz specimen is gorgeous!! The garnets are beautiful!! Is it from China??? ------------------------------------
