After getting confused on some directions I was given to a site near the Sand Rafael Swell, I decided to wander around a bit and see what I could find, and boy did I find awesomeness!
The stuff was everywhere, and I ended up going back with the family, and we just couldn't stop picking stuff up! It was an awesome trip overall, and we hounded various spots as well as playing in Goblin Valley for a couple hours. It was great to get out with the family while gas was less expensive and the weather was freakishly warm for February.

Cool video, Tyson. I'm not sure if I'd call that gorgeous scenery, though. I'm used to more water and green. Of course right now, that looks pretty good because there's more white here than any other color. The rocks look amazing though. You don't really have to hunt for them there, just bend down and scoop them up!
Thanks for the video.

Sure was a good time. The video doesn't do the San Rafael Swell justice. It's an awesome area.

That does look like the area. What are stormatowhatzits? The agate and jasper shines up nice. The white center undercuts. . .

Thanks to 1dave I was in the same area, in fact that is my shadow in his first pic! The link he shared is to our first trip out to Utah last January. Love the video, I'll have to start dragging the gopro out.

The white center is calcite, so yeah a lot softer. We kept ours all as specimens. Some have blue celestite in the very center.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Quite different from home in FL. There was still plenty to pick up. I started a thread in the rockhounding board about it.
