Note about coarse tumble in the rotary:
Starting with fresh coarse grit directly into a pre-established medium slurry is having great results. Grind rate improved. In the past, I used to use 1 cup of sugar per 1-2 pounds of rock in the rotary in coarse grind. Lots of sugar. It appears that the suspended clay particles makes the slurry even heavier than sugar right from the start at fresh grit addition. Much less rattling and banging in the PVC barrels, but with increased cutting rate. Two good effects.
In the past using straight water the banging noise would decrease over 2-4 days as slurry established. Little grinding occurred till the sound decreased and slurry established. Using coarse SiC 30 is part of the problem, as it requires a slurry to lift and mix it. That's a fact. But once it is mixed with the slurry it cuts rapidly.
