Hi folks, I had to stay at a hotel last week for several days..there was a large pile of rocks left over from landscaping. These were neat dark gray rocks with little lines of some type of lighter color mineral. The rocks are anywhere from 1.5 to 4 inches in diameter. Now they are already shaped and almost as smooth as paper to begin with...I want to polish some to take to the Chemotherpy clinic my wife is going to. I want to make a box of these and leave them for the patients as "Worry Rocks" to take with them as they please. My question is what phases do I go through for polishing ?? I have them in my model B right now on 40-60 grit...I figure this will do no harm and will smooth out things a little. Should I just go through the regular times and grits ??
Thanks in advance Dwight Pilkilton

Update, well since the rocks were so smooth already I did 48 hours on 40-60 grit...guess what ?? they were dyed gray..after the two days they were all different colors..but very soft greens, pale pink etc..and even smoother..if that is possible. well they are in the 120 grit stage now..I will leave them there untill Sunday and we will see how they turn out.

Hi Dwight, that sounds like a really nice idea to offer the free worry stones. I sure hope they all turn out to be beauties, I'm betting they will. Good luck buddy, Don
