Holy crap, Andy. That is all some awesome stuff. Only a few hours away. I just keep running out of day before I run out of stuff that needs to be done.

That rock is unusual, would like to know how it formed. As if crystalline quartz got coated with chalcedony. Add the T-egg shape. Mysterious Add the cloud bursts. Reminds one of a spike ball.

The agate found in this location is typically vein agate - my assumption is that is from hyrdothermal veins, likely low temp due to the inclusion of other minerals. The nodules appear to be few and far between. Interestingly, outside of this last nodule I havent found any other evidence of quatrz in the area. I need to study the state geological survey to understand the other materials in the area better.... Cheers

Same situation, area seemingly devoid of crystalline quartz. That confounds me. And this area/formation has rocks(agate/chert) created by low temp leaching of silicates. You would think heat is needed for quartz crystals ??

Cheers Yeah we need to do that, although I doubt my finds are as cool as the last couple you've posted. I dropped the ball pretty bad his year what with getting sick and stuff but hopefully we've got that under control now. Russ

I found some in South Dakota that looks very much like the snow storm agate (good name James). Those are great slabs where did you find them?

fantastic! It has a sort of resemblence to some of JamesP's botryoidal coral heads... that is just beautiful!
