I just got home from a week in Tucson for work - I had an interesting Rock experience there that I may share in this post or another - but I was able to meet up with Jason Brousseau - www.facebook.com/NM.STONE.SUPPLY?fref=ts - NM Stone Supply here on the board, and really enjoyed shooting the breeze, seeing his great storage setup, trading a few minerals, and getting to know him just a little. Jason is a heck of a guy, and I really enjoyed getting the chance to stop by his place.
I was going to head to some hot springs later on the drive and asked if he had any goodies I could take and toss into the soaking pond for the kids to search for (that is a tradition at this particular hot springs, and I didn't have anything interesting from my week in Tucson) - Jason dumped a bucket he got as part of an estate parcel and we picked out several pounds of Oregon beach agates that were mostly tumbled, and he ended up chasing down my truck on the way out of the lot to make sure I took them.
Great Guy, thanks a ton Jason - the rocks were a huge hit with the soakers.
The week before I managed to make it down to the Denver Gem and Mineral Show - the one at the Denver Coliseum - and I was able to stop by and see John and his wife at their booth - johnjsgems - and it was a pleasure as always. We did a little business and caught up a little. I'm pretty excited about getting the sweet 20" blade on my saw. Another great guy - thanks again John.
While I was at the show, Dave and his wife Chris - Dave is snowdog here on the forums - were able to meet up in the parking lot and do a little swapping and a good bit of chatting. Again, Dave overwhelmed with generosity as he gave me a bucket of awesome stuff for a bucket I brought. He also let me pick through some cool beads he had from an estate purchase and I need to go through those along with some interesting tumbled Thompsonite he sent home with me. As with the others, we had a really nice visit and I left feeling very thankful that I can rub shoulders with some truly great people.
What a great community we have here on RTH. I'm always grateful for any chance I get to meet up with folks.
I know I owe a visit to a number of folks - I took that recent trip near nowyo Russ, wyobrian (Thunder69 John's brother) and braders and didn't stop in, and didn't give rockroller Roland a heads up that I was going out. I'm sorry guys but I get into trouble if I divert kid trips for visits (It's like looking at my cell phone at the dinner table - a bit frowned upon
- but hopefully in the spring or on the way to the Oregon meetup I can stop by. I do want to visit every chance I get, and any chance to hound with hounds from here is awesome.
