We stopped by this morning to have a floor guy take a look so we can get an estimate to refinish the wood floors. I took the opportunity to take a quick photo to the east from our yard. The open space immediately in the foreground is about 1.25 acres fenced for horses or as a place for the kids to run/play or where we can have folks park if we have a big picnic. The industrial looking plant off in the distance is the Anheuser Busch bottling plant, they keep some of the Clydesdales there. It is a wonder of efficiency (a friend is the brother of the plant manager and the entire facility produces something like a barrel a day of waste - really crazy) The fields beyond the road are all designated open space, with the exception of the area right by the road, which will be part of a retirement community some day. We will have a bit of noise in our view at some point, but it will probably obscure the plant and will leave us with the big sky, which I love. We have the inspection Monday, finishing the radon test by Wednesday. I'm having another estimate and an inspection on the septic this week, and then we just have to wait for verification on all the financing stuff and we are headed to closing on the 12th of February. Pretty excited!

Absolutely super deal. Wish you all the best on closing, and a wonderful time ahead with your family there.

I have 4 kids! Kinda got tough when I had 6 vehicles in the driveway and 4 teenaged drivers on my insurance, then 3 in college at the same time. But lived through it,no empty nest syndrome here!

Gorgeous place John, congratulations!!! Thanks Brian - getting closer, 2 weeks from tomorrow. Financing is stressing me out, work's been a little slow this month so we are tight anyway and with all the $$ stuff - BOY - what a headache. Super excited still, though, just getting all the ducks in a row.

We were in this house for 5 years, our prior home was 6 years, and before that never more than a year any one place. We are HOPING this place is our "forever home" We are looking at maybe adopting some donkeys now, pygmy goats, chickens, and if the kids want to do 4h maybe a cow or something. Hopefully I get to keep my shop - it is good to talk about what we look forward to because we are in pretty heavy stress-ville at the moment with all the prep... It is nice to move every 5 years or so, we've jettisoned so much random stuff in the past few weeks, with more to come!

We rented a 30 yard dumpster when cleaning out the old place, and yes, i left a lot of rocks in the garden, sadly. We ended up throwing out almost 2 tons (!!!!) of stuff, detritus, crapola that we had been hanging onto for who knows how long. One of those "i didn't know we still had this" kinda thing. And it still took 150 12 x 12 x 16 and two full sized moving vans to get us into the new place. We must have excelled in Packrat 101 is all i have to say.
Interesting that you want to take up that many new animals, i wouldn't know how to begin to care for any of them, lol, but good on you!!!! We raised ducks for a number of years, not for meat, just for animated lawn ornaments. But it is difficult in this climate in the winter. And raising prey animals can be heart breaking at times.
Keep us all in the loop though! Take more progress pics, especially of cute animals! (and your new rock empire!!) I need to do some pics of mine now that i am finally getting back up and running.
