I hope they haven't googled "fir2e 2pit2s atl2an2ta" and found this thread...you never know who's watching. Got some proprietary stuff that goes not on the net. Especially tooling.

I hope they haven't googled and found this thread...you never know who's watching. Good'nuf? But, I doubt they'd find this thread...more like googling that and finding this forum. Google only see keywords and the key words take you to where they are. Sometimes deep into otherwise unfindable pages. I'd delete the post entirely for our friend.

I had a Google advanced search set up on all my competitors. Not desperate at all. Just keeping an eye out on the marketplace.
I think it's smart to be aware.

Discussing the benefit of stockpiling cheap steal is likely something he hasn't considered.
With his advance search set up, maybe he knows now.

After 10 years I get inside info on whom buys and how much. He is way behind on the stock piling. Working on a gas grill that can be put on my pits and his pits. Specialty parts from a real off grid backyard supplier w/a couple of 700K machines to make the parts. Would be a bigger cost item than the pit. Would convert the pit to a dual purpose wood/gas. No one has one. It will parasite on to his pits. His pits would be a great target donor. A blood sucking Dracula.

Same burner, scaled back on BTU covered in pumice stone with make a gas fired pit. Many people cannot or will not burn wood. Municipal laws and such.
But a gas pit works.

Oh yes, wood is and will be a no no in urban areas. Worst issue is neighbors in the big city complaining, suburbs not a problem. A client came down to study. Engineer. He had done bunch of research on the gas burners and fire pits. Came back and bought the pit, commissioned me to build in the gas burner. linked me up with all the do dads and technical knowledge. Basically has the whole design configured and I told him his commission was zero, work done for knowledge. His idea slapped me in the face and requires the part my backyard guy builds making this a simple job. He saw it before I did. Other problem is 4-5 other companies were using my company name in the key words on their web sites. Finally got a Wix site built that stopped that crap a few weeks ago. Day later started getting calls from web site that is not SO'ed yet. but at least I come up #1 if my company name is searched. The 2 year competitor has a high dollar contracted website. He really used my business words in his site. Freaking web site war games.

@shotgunner The web site thing is a bit intimidating. I hate to send customers to Etsy where there is dozens of other fire pits.
Best to have them come to my completed website and finish the E-commerce section so they can buy direct.
#1 search word is 'fire pit' singular on about every engine and on Etsy type sites. So my domain/biz title has that in it. Competitors certainly know that too. But a superior web SO man can capture that search phrase for say 'Joe's Fireplace Shop' as well as a domain having 'fire pit' in it.
Got the website mobile friendly. 70% of stuff is bought off cell phones.
Will probably hire a Wix master to tune my site for SO.

Otherwise your competitors will....

And buy plural versions of their domains, and park them. Never use them (bad form) but park them so they can't use them. When they figger it out, sell!

I would guess that the guy with the $5000 website has my name in the singular. Mine is plural. Denise does the domains, will ask her if singular is available. He and others are using the name of my business in their title. Ha. Well, now I show up front and center w/them on a search thanks to Wix. Then my (my business).com shows up. Makes me wonder if clients think they were copying me, uh, competitors using my company name in their title words. Is using my company name in their title words the 'bad form' you are referring too ? Have I been bitch slapped ? Had a record week this week. None were Etsy sales. Never guessed that Wix site would do anything. Apparently it is. I asked two of them and they said they found me on the website.

Ok, wood is out for the urbanites....but, can they burn tires in them? I mean, scrap tire problem is big, high btus hidden in tires, ready supply. So what if we end up with a "But officer, it says no *wood fires*...it didn't say anything about rubber...." Hey, the Chinese seem to do ok...

LOL Intheswamp. That is a bad location. Pits come in 24-30-36-42-48. Tires of various sizes should fit deLIGHTfully in each one of them. And then mold rubber figurines at the drain hole below the pit. Participants at the pit should be soot black.

Oh, and the "soot black" comment... That could prep the users for going into peoples backyards and garages on "appropriation runs". I can see a niche market forming here....
