gemfeller - thanks for the little bit of history. I didn't know that Jeff Graham had changed the name of his company. The machine came with a copy of Long and Steele, and as pauls suggested, I have both of Tom Herbst books. Graham's book is on my to-read list as well, but i already have more info than experience - gotta learn by doing. Thanks for your generous offer of practice rough. I'm realizing now that most of the rough I bought myself is too small for my current skill set, and that beginner-friendly rough may run out in a few weeks. The andradite garnets and tourmalines would make lovely 3 mm stones, but that's not a lot of room for error! radio, that goes for you and your sunstones as well - my only consideration is that you'll have to accept a finished stone in the trade.

Message me your snail mail addy and I'll get a sfrb on the way. I'lll send some of the larger ones for you to work on first, and some with nice schiller for when you feel more confident tackling better stones.
