First a few color shots
Hollyhock, Alcea rosea
Lion's tail, Leonotis leonurus (a different kind o' lion tail, lol)
Red sage, Salvia greggii
Pride of Madiera, Echium candicans
A few clouds. Was trying to capture the silver lining. Kinda looks like a bear head (facing right).
Just happened to catch this one. Wow. Looks like a faun (facing left). No horns though...
Like this guy from Narnia. Even the ears. Tell me I'm wrong...
The very next shot, seconds later. It was already blowing away.
Lastly, my own personal hummingbird. In top of dead hibiscus tree.
He likes those lion tails!
Acrobatics
Mister pollinator, he does his job well.
That's it for now, thanks for looking.

Scott, that was "faun" not fawn. Mythological beast? I even gave an example. Or you could just call it a poodle, lol.

Great pictures, esp the action shots of the humming birds. I saw the faun. Good call!

Great pictures, esp the action shots of the humming birds. I saw the faun. Good call! Thanks, Tela, on both counts.
Which of 5 is that h-bird ? James, I knew you were going to ask. I'm pretty sure it is a female (so no red), it may be an Anna's hummingbird. That is the best known species in San Diego. I think she has a nest in the avocado tree. Will try to take more pics next week.
Great pics your plants look great!!! I'm with you on the cloud/ narnia guy connection Bill
Thanks, Bill. I was thinking faun as soon as I saw the cloud, just happened across the Narnia photo (images) before I posted.
Beautiful shots of the hummingbird. Shots like that are no easy task! Thanks, Ann. I surprised even myself, with this old lo pixel camera. Of course, I only showed the best ones, lol. But didn't really take that many. Just some had the bush in the way. When all else fails pictures of clouds, birds, plants is always a winner. Very nice. Thank you, spiceman! Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Diane, you are welcome! Liking the Holleyhock flowers,I grow them too...Finding out that the rust fungus they have is a regular thing,in most states that have sun and moisture...(But I still like them)... Great photos too Jean....Thumbs up Mike, you can't see it in the photo, but they have spider mites, too. Doesn't seem to hurt the plant any.
