We had a yard/rock sale last weekend (three days)....When someone showed up with a child and was looking at rocks,I would give the child a slab of Brazilian agate....(They loved it).. Anyhow a Grandma shows up with her Granddaughter (about 5 years old)...Both are looking at the rocks and Grandma tells me,her and her husband use to do lapidary work in the 70's and 80's... When they were leaving,I gave her Granddaughter the agate.....She asked me,is it free? I said yes,the child walks away, saying "Cool"..... The Grandma turns around and comes back, asks me if I want a rock saw.. Of course my answer was sure and how much....!!!! LOL She said free,it's just been sitting in the barn for years, getting in the way, they finally put it outside a few years ago... Come and get it and it's yours... I said ok... I didn't know what I was getting into,I thought,"I wonder what size it was and the shape of it"..LOL Well I drove out to their farm and bingo I spot it sitting next to a machine shop...A nice 14" saw! Got to looking at it,was in decent shape, nothing froze up,good blade, looks like the lid window was the only repair I see to have done... I told her husband,I'll take it... Got it home, hosed it down (straw, dirt and etc...) LOL Looked it over and I think I have a winter project.....Going to dump oil on the threads today, threads are ok,just a precaution..LOL Larry and Roy,I might be hitting you up for some advice this winter....Thumbs up Enjoy the slide show..... s29.photobucket.com/user/fossilman01/slideshow/Rock%20saw

Lucky you, good fortune follows a good deed. Sure better than leaving it out to rot too.

Someone was looking at the saw better than I was-said a bigger blade can be put into that saw... Heck ya',I'm all for that! Yuppers, just seen the identical saw,it was an 18".....Must have put a smaller blade in it,because of cost...

Well after some strong thinking and time+money to get this saw back in running order,I made a decision to let it go to a good home.... It will be rebuilt and running by a master mechanic and machinist,so I know it will get proper care.... Quartz (Larry)will be taking the saw home with him,I could tell he liked the saw, when he was looking it over......Thanks Larry!!! Two thumbs up

That is awesome! If not for the giving of that slab, methinks this would not have happened. Good on ya Mate, and good on the family for making a rockhounders day!
