I was out rockhounding (with my dog) on the weekend and found an amazing cliff which had multiple vugs and crystal clusters. I only had my GoPro camera with me, but I think it is a pretty cool spot.

Looks really cool!!! Some treasures hidden there. Did you get some photos of your finds? I'd be amazed to find something like that down here...of course, I live in the land of mud and much.<sigh> Very interesting find!!!!

It was actually a bit overwhelming. There were so many vugs and places to explore in that small area. Not something you see everyday. What I really needed was a good camera and a flashlight, plus some good heavy duty tools...not the sort of things to carry around when exploring in the hills. I will go back in a couple of weeks and have some fun.

And made a few new "friends" who now want to come out and "help". Not sure where they were when I was tramping the forest alone. LOL

Fine crystal formations there greig. I stayed in Ottawa for 6 months just after college. Drove up to the north end a couple of times. Territory is beautiful. Fishing in those fine lakes. Spent a lot of time in Hull, Quebec. Gatineau Mountains. Curious what city is close to this site.

Hey, I'll let you keep this wonderful site for yourself and won't bug you about the precise location so I can "help" you, but...how much for a small FRB of those treasures? ?<GRIN>

I love the Gatineau Mountains, but have not rock hounded there (yet).

What is a FRB?
I have been thinking about the spot and intend to go back with a good camera and lights to take some better video. The GoPro is a nice camera to take on a walk, but it has its limitations in the dark vugs. Much of the footage that I took was useless, because it was so dark in the deep holes. I will also chisel out some samples, that I think I can take without destroying them, and then might advise "x marks the spot", so others can also enjoy. I am not one who needs to "take it all", although my wife might think otherwise because I tend to bring quite a bit home. LOL My thinking is the cliff face will not last forever because eventually the hill will erode and the exposed crystals will degrade with exposure to frost, freezing and water. On the other hand, I might just keep it to myself for a while. Last time I pointed out a nice occurrence, the fellow used a micro-blaster and removed everything from that hillside, which to me seems a little unfair to other collectors.

Flat Rate Box. The US postal service offers standard sized boxes shipped at a flat rate.
Looks like you found a sweet place to explore.

Ontario spectacular. Drove across Algonquin Park and almost ran out of gas. Some remote territory. All those lakes, looked as if they were rarely fished.
I remember limestone in that area. Should be agate there. Seemed like the Gatineau's were mostly granite.
Welcome to the forum. Amazing crystal spot.

If you share the site do so with people that you really, really trust. I wouldn't be too worry about it eroding away...I suspect it'll be there for a few years to come. GRocker already explained the FRB (flat-rate box). A hint on the camera...a good flashlight will help light up those dark holes for your GoPro....and help you get back to the truck if you tarry to long at the cliff.

Thanks for the FRB info. We don't have those in Canada. At least, I don't think so, but will be at the post office later today and will ask.
Usually, I have at least one flash light with me, but this time I did not. I know, better to have and not need than need and not have. On the other hand, when walking in the heat, up and down hills, not to have is sometimes better. I am OK walking out in the dark, as long as I stay away from mine shafts and cliffs. LOL
