toiv0 I was the person who built the barrel out of the LP tank. I lined it with a product called Smooth-on but after about a year it started letting go from the sides. I ended up cutting and prying it out. I just used it with no lining and it worked fine. I made a barrel out of HDPE and use that one for course and the one without the lining for fine and polish.

toiv0: Greetings I was considering a reline of my 14lb hopper at $325 in 2015, then $300 postage to the the USA and back to the UK, in the end I decided to just buy a complete new 14lb hopper at £419.46 ($626.68) including all custom fees and postage via JSGems Lapidary in CA, postage is more affordable within the USA than here in the UK and the snag is the hopper is still boxed up in the original shipping container unused.

The only way to go Michael. Always spent 4 weeks 220-500-1000-polish in the barrel and a bunch of abrasives. Vibe- slap AO 80 to darn near polish in 2 days, 14,000 for a day to wet shine. 3 days vs 4 weeks Get you a Used Viking and a Lot-O. Easier said than done, I think. If you see any for sale used, let me know. There is a fully equipped one on EBAY used only a couple of times Joshua.

The fixture that holds 6 mini's plus the 6 mini hoppers add about $600. 2 weeks ago one for $500 with a 35 pound tub. $500 is fairly common. who can keep a 35 pound tub supplied ? great for a big rock.

That would be a lot of grit. I’d have to buy it at the factory like you do jamesp

That would be a lot of grit. I’d have to buy it at the factory like you do jamesp I recently dropped 220-500-polish doses in the Vibrasonic down to 1 tablespoon per 8 pounds of rock. It sure seems to speed things up in those steps. I think adding more than is needed slows things down considerably. Step 1 is the step needing plenty of abrasive.
