I went back out to the copper mine where I got the new material last time. Was only gong to spend an hour then go to the turquoise mine but was having a lot of fun finding some interesting stuff. Here is a portion of what I found: 20170209_150002 by James Sloane, on Flickr These are some of my favorites of the copper ores: 20170209_145545 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_145555 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_145607 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_145619 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_145637 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_145707 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_145746 by James Sloane, on Flickr Found some siderite: 20170209_145850 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20170209_150224 by James Sloane, on Flickr

Cool colors. are you going to cut this stuff or keep them as specimens?

I am keeping those dolomite specimens as specimens. I have a few other pieces with the dolomite I will cab. As for the copper specimens I will cut and cab some of it, mainly the smaller pieces since I like free forming pieces. Some of it I will sell since I have way more than I can ever cab. The second from the last in the copper specimens I will also probably leave intact. It has an interesting pattern and I like how it looks whole.

Qiuestion, does that material cut good? Very nice colors to them! Liking that !!! I have not cut much of the material. Only a few pieces of the brighter blue material I posted a cab of earlier. What I have cut did cut and cabbed well and I have no doubt the rest will as well. I am busy cutting very similar material from another mine in the same region and it cuts very well. The host rock is the same the only really difference is the copper minerals in the two materials and the material I am cutting now also tends to have a lot of bromargyrite (silver bromide) in it.

Oh boy, lots of potential cool cabs in all that material. Hmmm, I'm thinking Vegas isn't that far from here, might have to take a trip soon.

He ain't the rockhounding buddy. He is the patient bystander city boy. ETA: can't tell the players without a score card. She seems to have an extensive cast of characters.

I was referring to: Hubby: Engineer, pilot, City slicker standerbuyer but still my "Rockhounding Buddy" well since Valentine trip was cancelled twice now he's FORMER RB 😂😂 He's really wonderful just not into it. He only goes when I can't find anyone else to go. He doesn't like me going alone. No telling where I'd end up!
