Threaded shafts get a big Can't believe folks who use shaft collars on the ends of a shaft. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Collars save $100 for those without machinery. Threads save hours of headaches fiddling with misbehaving toys. No?

The only successful build I've ever seen was a 2 wheeler with drilled flanges welded to his shaft collars and the expando drums screwed to the flanges. Every other one was a waste of perfectly good steel, his slightly less.

Making a flat lap for that. Using carpet and cerium oxide like bobby1

You'll like that better. putting it on a 1725 rpm grinder is a bit fast.

I would go to Lowes or where ever and have them get some in and let them pay the postage. If you can. Ace hardware carries odd size items, are they in California?
