It wouldn't be the first or last time I mis-identified something as wood I've been googling pictures of AU ribbonstone and I see more pink tones than what exist in this piece. Then there's the dendtrites - do they occur in ribbonstone?

Tommy: In regards to both slabs. Remember, once it is in pieces, it will NEVER be whole again! Even you noted that a single cab could not ever show it's totality. A great find to someday pass on to another, by sale or gift (if family). There is no going back in this case.

I agree with you about the Pope Creek jasper - the totality of the variable patterns on the slab IS the beauty. The Guadalupe on the other hand makes really beautiful cabs that sell very well. The person who bought this one below still asks me all the time when I will get more made... I am sentimental about the slab to a certain point but... Not going to rush into cutting it...It will probably happen one day when I least expect it after a beer or four.

I should have mentioned that there's a glass display case nearby that contains a bunch of smaller pieces of dino bone. I can't afford most of them either - they give great prices on a lot of stuff but the dino bone they price like gold.

He doesn't want to sell. If he gets it, it sells. Otherwise he don't care.
I had a lizard like that. Raised price to 10x market.
Damn thing sold in 90 minutes.
