For those that can handle a Britney Spears video, she filmed the I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman video at Antelope Canyon, the #1 spot on the list. Cute girl, bearable song, amazing scenery. She has no idea how close she was to disaster on those high cliffs! Those huge chunks fall into the bottom from time to time and people on them are instantly a thousand feet down before having time to react. Spears is a disaster.. In Colorado you probably hear about it from time to time being so close in Utah but lots of tourists die from that natural selection thing. A few every year. Since Black Canyon is just outside the City limits its always in the news.

I have always thought that the Rainbow Mountains in China were the most beautiful rocks in the world. I can't post a photo here because I'm not sure how to do it but you can google it if you haven't seen it! Perhaps one of you could post it for me.

Surprised Devil's Tower was not on the list. The aliens are going to feel jilted.

When they limited it to 5 - had to be a lot of neat things left out.

Been to a few of those areas too.... Also some weird formations in Washington State and two in the Rockie Mountains on I 90..... Always wanted to stop and take a few photos, but no turns outs and cars flying by at 80 mph, doesn't excite me either...LOL

Thanks for the post. I've been to a couple of the places, probably should breakdown and go to Antelope Canyon. Bryce is a favorite, we go there at least once every couple of years, pass by frequently.

Thanks Dave. I'm sure there's lots of other worthy candidates for top rated rock formations. One I'm particularly fond of is Square Top Mountain at the head of the Green River in Wyoming. I've spent many days on that monolith glassing across the abyss to neighboring mountains for big horn rams. Funny how certain places become special and we feel a bond with them for a lifetime. Sorry for no pics.
