Hey everyone, As you may know, Rockhobbit had previously organized the Travelling Rock Box. Due to RA, she has sadly said goodbye to a hobby of 11 years. To the point, I do not wish for this wonderful tradition to end and am willing and able to organize it. I'm looking for input here, wether objections to my handling this, suggestions for changes, general concerns or questions. Thanks for your time, Cody

Something to point out, I only tumble, so the material I'd start the box with largely won't be cabber friendly to start.

Liking your initiative. I participated in a couple rounds. The last go around, the box ended up being mostly slabs. Or at least when I got it, that was the majority of the material. I understand that's the best way to get maximum material in there, but there wasn't much option but to take a slab or two. Then, there's no room to replace with anything but more slabs. I don't have a slab saw and mostly have tumbler material, so wasn't geared to my particular skill set. Just my observation.

I did notice that with the 9th round box, I'd say if it becomes a regular issue we could split the box by category, maybe even mid-round. I'd have no problem sending the new postage money to whoever had the box at the time.

MrMike That could work, but if possible, I'd like to try to include as many as I can.

I agree with MrMike why not a "rockNroll" box for tumblers. And a slabber box for the "cabbers"? And if you do start the next box i will gladly donate to the box or boxes. Or you can hlafers a mfb. 50% tumble 50% slabs.

A half and half box would be fun. So that it stays half and half, whatever is taken out, slabs or tumbling rough, should be replaced with the same. This way participants down the line have a choice instead of all slabs or all tumbling material. Just a thought.

Great idea and one I would love to partake in. I have mostly tumbled or rough and nothing that spectacular but it would be fun.

captbob I'm thinking big, how about one of those pods? You know, the movable storage unit. 😂 I was planning on just one MFRB. Easier to keep track of who has THEE box instead of who has WHICH box. Also, it'll be easier to get a decent size group of members with a combined box I think.

Health will no longer allow me to enjoy the hobby, but I still have some very nice slabs which I'd be willing to donate to get this started.

I like the 50/50 box. The slab side would not have to be just slabs, it could include cabs, rough and performs, settings and chain, ect. similarly, the tumbling side could include grit, rocks, polish, bails for tumbled stones.
I like that idea.

I think Luminin should start a MFRB of that sweet Flint Ridge stuff. If that’s the case I officially sign up as the next participant.....

Just my opinion. That's a good point. Maybe the traveling box for tumblers should be a separate thing? Throw into a box what you planned on tumbling next, mail it off to the next person, and so on, and so on. Only good stuff, what you would tumble yourself. Just thinking out loud here...

I like that idea. I like this. Not only rocks, but other accessory materials could be included. Require that if someone takes anything from the slab side it is replaced on that side and the same for the tumble. A MFRB would need to have some great way to divide it, that could easily be transferred to another box, if needed. Would there be enough interest for two boxes, a slabs/cabs one and a tumblers one? I dunno, just asking. Also would the tumble material need to be tumble size? That can vary from person to person, depending on the size of their tumbler. Just some thoughts. Yes, I am interested in participating.

50/50 would be good. No accessories because there is just no room anyone that has not participated in in this does not realize how jam packed the box is.
