I think there's not much information because there really isn't much to it. Between Pat's tute and my WIP, I think you know how to do it. Yes- both the threads are great! That's not the issue. I was more interested in seeing lots of design examples so I could see what is possible. If eye candy is what you're looking for I have a page for you. The pics are a bit small but enough detail to get a pretty good idea how they did it. www.hellscanyongemclub.com/galleries/nggallery/thumbnails

Tela, do a search for geometric designs. You'll get loads of ideas! Any geometric pattern you can turn into an intarsia.

rockjunquie the YouTube video is actually made from Bill Boggs. It’s just a PowerPoint kind of presentation but well done in my opinion. He’s the instructor at William Holland that I’m taking Intarsia from this Spring. I’m super excited!

Also maybe try quilting books. Quilting patterns use straight lines mostly don't they? Great minds think alike. I was thinking the same thing and now - on a personal note- I wish I hadn't gotten rid of all of my mom's hand colored quilt designs on graph paper. It would have been so cool to do some of her designs in rock. I was just never into quilting, so I didn't hang onto her treasure trove. (Unless I did and can't find them.) Thanks for the quilting blocks idea!! I don’t quilt but being a seamstress I have managed to collect many quilting block patterns. Those are all over the Internet for free. My favorite place is “Craftsy” on line. Look under free classes and patterns. Intarsia is a lot like quilting. You are putting several different straight lines together to make a picture. When I start a project, it being sewing or lapidary, the design is always the hardest for me (I quit using patterns in sewing a long time ago). The 1st Most Important Thing is,,,!!!! I tell myself and this holds true with Intarsia, “Melissa you’ve been doing this for years. Yes this design has many working parts but, EVERY PART is still put together with a straight seam!” See simple. I give myself pep talks all the time 😂

Just had to throw in some angles didn’t you 😂😂 we are beginners Dave. Can anyone say Compound Miter Saw. 😘 Faceting machine. I will still be using mt old Graves mk1 to do the lions share of the work, but switching back and forth from the 90 degree jig I made and the faceting mast wasn't working out. Having Al's little grinder to pre-shape and surface the pieces to be glued on will simplify things. The promised walk through is coming, probably after the first since I have a week to play during the holidays.

BTW- Mr. Sesona called and said my unit should be out by the end of the week. Now I have to wrap my brain around something easy as a first project. All the ideas I have are probably way beyond what I can do right now. At least I have learned not to go with my first instincts.

Did either of you order the doohickey that lets you use all sorts of angles? I didn't. Too rich for my blood right now. I think I will want one, though.

The description for the basic grinder says "Angle Template Kit attachment for getting 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75° and 90° cuts." Does that mean the templates are included? I can't tel what they look like. Rockoonz's pictures help but I still can't picture it.
