Here are some of the wrapping I did after finishing my mother's necklace. The only two stones I didn't tumble are the Malachite.

Thanks, all I did was search for wire jewelry on the internet and looked at what others had done, and looked at some instructions.

Tami, those are all nice looking wraps! I'd SAY you have the wrapping bug.....me too . You have been busy. Do you sleep at night or does that big hobby soul keep you up wrapping and chain mailing?..hehe. I really like them all. Beautiful work! I have done about a half dozen in the last week myself. 3 turned out not too bad, so I hope you don't mind if I stick a pic on your wrapping thread here. The others turned out so so and I won't put them up for anyone to see. Wire wrapping is fun and rewarding when you do one you are somewhat happy with. I can see myself improving with time, but still have a ways to go. Here are my 3 favorites so far. It's funny, I put about the same squiglys on mine too like some of yours have, I though it gives them a kind of South Western look? You guys need to try this wrapping, you might like it and it makes good use of the tumble results. Here is the pic, talk to you all later, Don

I don't mind at all that you put a picture on my post. I don't have the technique a hundred percent right, but I am working on it. The squiggles aren't just pretty but necessary to tighten the wire around the stone. I use very small jump rings on some of mine because I don't have 22 gauge wire available except online and I haven't ordered any yet. On two of the wrappings I was actually able to do a God's eye wrapping on the bottom with 26 or 28 gauge wire. I then looped the ends into a coil and made sure that that coil was under the stone so it wouldn't get caught and break off causing the God's eye to unravel.

Sorry to double reply but I realized I forgot to answer one of your questions. Yes I do sleep at night. My job is taking care of my disabled sister while my parents run an insurance agency, therefore while she is either sleeping or "toe painting" I am able to work on my crafts. When my parents get home I retreat to my room where I work on sewing clothes. You all can see some of my other work by going to the photo page of my website at www.wizardstarseeker.freewebspace.comTami P.S. Yes I made the tent you see in the photos.

hmmmm, I don't think you need sqiggles to tighten things up, all the others I did I just stretched the wire over the stone towards the center with gentle sweeping arches, no squiggles, and they were as snug as these 3. ok, that's all I meant. I did the zig zags cause I like them, that's all.

THANKS JAMES! I appreciate the compliment, it's nice to hear it. To answer your question, I guess I started trying wire wrapping last fall. But until last week I had only been using some old bead wire my wife had. It was way too flimsy for the job and I created some real wonders (you had to wonder what I was thinking . All in all, I probably only have done less than 10. Most of those were flat out ugly and destroyed or hidden away. Those 3 I made in the last week are different from the rest. Here is a pic of my special helper, my little granddaughter. Sorry the pic is not that good, catching her not moving is a chore. It is like trying to photograph a hyper-active hummingbird. She is my little princess though. Thanks again James, talk to you later, Don

Looks like it will be a few more years before she grows in that necklace. By the way your granddaugter is adorable. My mom and my girlfriend were complimenting her too.

don those wraps are great and the littlest rockhound is perfectly adorable! i'd kinda like to see those earlier wraps you've hidden - i always like a good laugh. the last 2 wraps i did are actually nice and i've been wearing one....but now that ring i did....i was making it for my daughter and by the time i got finished it fit my largest finger and has poorly curled wires shooting out everywhere kinda like something madussa might wear. i'm sure my 5 y/o could have done better!

Greetings All,
I just want to say that I am so impressed by those of you who actually DO SOMETHING with the tumbled stones. Oh I know it doesn't take a Michaleangelo to do wire wrapping, but as I've never done any it sure looks like some creative effort went into those pieces to me. Very nice work Tami and Don, thanks for the pictures.

Somone mentioned that they should learn how to do that, I just went on the internet and did a search for wire jewelry and then let my imagination loose. The most important thing to remember is don't force the wire into something it does want to. Here is a picture of some new wrappings I did with the stones I tumbled. Tami

I really like what you are posting, Tami. I get new ideas everytime I see your stuff. What an inspiration. I think I try and make my stuff too complex, and botch it all up. You have alot of freedom in the stuff you do. Nice work! Thanks! -Banjo

More beautiful wraps Tami! Great stuff, very artistic and pleasing to the eyeball. I think that is what I don't like about mine most. From years of making arrowheads, I think I try to make mine too symmetrical. Mine look like an old man with OCD made them, they aren't the works of art yours are. Very very nice work, and it fits the fre-form of the tumbled stones perfectly, cheers, Don

tami you are on a roll - those are great - my child says she likes the black one the best.
don you are truly being toooooo hard on yourself - i thought your wraps were extremely well done - the whole thing about art is that there are no firm laws - you can be symmetrical and tami can be free and its all beautiful.
