OK, first.....very nice batch of rocks!...cheers! Well done! But Dorothy, the pic is huge ( re-sizing in a photoshop program would help) and it's kinda blurry. I think also that you need to have the upgraded membership on imageevent to have access to the pic URL, which is what you need to post on this board. Don't give up, we'll get you through this if it kills us ;D . You are on the right track. What did you use to take the pic? Do you have a scanner? I'll help you all I can, k? Talk to you later, Don

Excellent job Blue. Are these rocks that you've collected or did you buy them rough from somewhere?
later, Ed

Looking good! ;D To post a pic without having to click on the link, use the litte "picture frame" thingy where it says "add tags."

Thanks for the compliments, they are a mixed batch that I got from Franks and also some that came from a batch that I got with my toy tumbler, also one that I picked up in a driveway (about 20 feet later found its other half which is in the batch I have running now). There are some amethyst, quartz, jasper, agates (not sure what kind) citrine, goldstone, bloodstone, green adverturine (think), not sure what the peach colored ones are, garnets and rose quartz, the one I found in the driveway is above the amethyst one, the longer orange one, its other half is showing what I think is part quartz, its clear anyway, tiger eye and moonstone pretty much rounds it out. My favorite one is the tiger stiped tooth looking one in the top left corner, not sure what it is, but its really neat, I am thinking of trying wire wrapping it. Although you can't really see it in the pic, several of the 'clear' rocks have TONS of inclusions (I hope its the right word), and while I was practicing some wire wrapping I even broke pieces off of some, and I tumbled with pellets from stage two on, I am thinking that when they got crushed they all just got really week.
P.S. my name isn't Dorthy ;-) I just got a new digital camera and can't seem to get them not blurry, and its a fairly nice one too, I guess I will just stick to my good ol fashioned 35 millimeter one.

Hey Blue. If you have a scanner you can just scan the rocks. You'll lose some control over pic quality, but it's always in focus and you can enhance it it Photoshop or some other program like that.

I'm sorry, where did I get that from? Must have been someone else, so I'm sorry to them also. Heck I even spelled it wrong anyway. The rock dust has finally gotten to my brain I guess, forgive me.
OK, here is the scoop. After some detective work. Blueangele, I had you mixed up with Silverheights. Here is my twisted explanation. I had posted pics for both of you, the white towel in your last pic was the same as the towel in Dorthy's earlier pics (Silverheights), plus when thinking of hair, blue and silver are very close. So you see it was an easy mistake. ;D My apologies to you both.
Lastly, Blueangele. If you have a tripod for your camera, try it. Digital cameras are very sensitive to any movement when snapping the pic. It should really help to sharpen them up. If that doesn't work, back up some and use the zoom if it has one, some dig cameras just won't focus close up. I hope this helps, ttyl, Don

No worries Don, I have been called worse i have read the book, but it only has digital zoom, not optical so to get completely in focus I have to back up and then you can't see them very well, I do have a scanner and just tried to use it, but its not working now, so I have to play with it a bit I guess

All of the photos I have posted have been scanned with the stones gently placed on the scanner and either the scanner lid put down or a piece of cloth layed over it.

Does you digital camera have a macro setting blueangele? If it does you can set it on macro and you should be able to take a pic close up and still in focus.

yeah, it did and it was still blurry, so I got frustrated and took it back and exchanged it for a better (I hope) one with optical zoom as well as digital, the people told me that it was the most returned camera they had, so hopefully this one will do the trick, I am not sure what is going on with my scanner, when it scans it won't bring up a picture just black and colored lines...I am thinking either the cable is bad or it came loose inside the computer

The cable would be my first thought as well. I'd check my settings for the scanner too, just to be sure everything is set correctly.
