You asked for it, Dale!
These are not my coolest fossil finds, just my most recent (last month).
These are the five I took to our prospecting meeting on Wednesday
Petrified wood
Petrified Crinoid Stem
Fossil coral covered with desert varnish
crinoid bits and pieces
Stromatolites. These are just the ones I recently collected. I have many more, but no time to go find them all and take pics right now.
The lighter colored ones are much easier to find than the darker ones, which are coated with desert varnish. Those you have to find by seeing the texture.
The orange coloring is some desert varnish that was facing the dirt. The reverse is dark.
This one has a pretty distinctive pattern
And this is a piece of petrified palm
Don't know whether I will tumble it, or slab it and make a couple cabs. Decisions, decisions...
Okay, spiceman , will this hold you until the next installment? Jean

Yes, that will hold me for now but don't be a slacker. Post what you want, show the fossils you have... But always be happy.
Nice pics, you go girl. Thanks

Here are some trilobite fossils I collected long ago at the well known deposit near Delta Utah. As best I can determine they're Jenkinsonia varga PTYCHOPARIIDA in the family Alokistocaridae. Neat little ancient bugs I've always planned to make into jewelry but haven't gotten around to doing.

Time for the next installment.
Some type of fossilized sea life from Ocotillo Wells. Corals? Bryozoans? Unsure what they are.
A clam locked in matrix
Another IDK from Ocotillo Wells. So much variety there.
This last one was found out by the geode beds near Wiley's Well (CA).
I believe it to be a fossilized limpet on rhyolite.
That's all for now.

Well, I packed away a really neat looking fern fossil from several years ago so well, now I can't find it I know its here someplace. Hopefully after I clean the garage it will turn up. But during the hunt, I took pics of some of my other favorites. All self collected. Sand dollar from a quarry trip led by our very own kap My first ever piece of pet wood. Found during a potty break in northern AZ on our first trip out west. Its very rough and a little crumbly, but it was my first! Some sort of sea fan?? Found right here in south central Tennessee. 'Turritella' from Wamsutter Wy, front and back. Piece of pet wood from Hurricane Mesa, Ut And of course some Withlacoochee coral

vegasjames , LOL, that poor rock needs immediate help! You know what the commercials say about seeing a doctor if that condition lasts more than 4 hours...

I am pretty sure if you read what they are going to do to you to treat your 4 hour condition it will go flat on its own.

These would have to be my coolest finds. Leaves are from South Central BC and the fern? or fish bone? is from the West side of the Rockies in Alberta. What puzzles me is the leaves fossil are on one slab with 4 inches in-between the front and back. Could this be two different time periods? Front Back
