ok, gonna try the image thing again, I got some rocks from the rock shed and found two that I think are white quartz outside, but, maybe not. The two I am not sure of are on the right, the white quartz I am sure of (from the 'shed) on the left, could the other two be quartz? This next pic is of all my rocks together, the mixed batch (plus the two I found and some moonstone from a previous batch) on the left and the petrified wood on the right This is the amethyst that was in the mixed batch, the darker one is going to be gorgeous, I can't wait! these next two are some I can't figure out, the bluish one is a light bluish purple color and the black one is solid black, the white stuff on the pic is just dust any ideas?

its a Fujifilm A205 it cost $118.44 at wal-mart, it's only 2 megapixels but it has both optical (3x) and digital (2x) zooms and macro mode, it also has auto focus and flash and can be used as a web cam if needed, its a really good deal actually, 'specially for me with my 10% discount, oh yea, it comes with 16mg photo card and can be plugged in with an adapter to download to save on batteries, but the batteries I got with it are still going strong. I really like it so far, when I get rich I will get a 5 or 6 megapixel one, but for now if I want to do real pictures I will use my canon. I resized the pics with paint shop pro.

Blue angel, the blue one looks like blue aventurine, the second is obsidian with lava matrix. I have some red obsidian from Mt. St. Helens. That batch should polish real well. Good luck.

Nice lookin' rocks, blueangele, but I sure can't help you with identification!
You will love your digital camera! I have two 35 mm cameras with numerous lenses, filters and such, but I rarely use them since I got my digital. In fact, thinking about putting them on eBay so I can put whatever I get for them toward a new Canon digital with interchangable lenses. Sure won't get rid of my digital though until I have enough $$ for the Canon. It might take a while to get an extra $850 - esp. since I can't seem to quit buying more rock stuff! It's a tough decision - more rock stuff or a new digital camera. So far, the rocks are winning! LOL

Can you adjust the size of your pictures with this free web site?

I adjusted them myself, but if they go over a certain size then the web site will adjust them for you, I can't remember the size right now though.

OK BA, great job on the pix and the camera. The camera I use is an old Sony 1.2 MP. In it's day it was a butt whipper, and I paid a small fortune for it. But it is way out dated now. 2 MP is plenty big for super rock pics, nice camera, great price. The good news: looks like you guys have found some really nice free pix hosting sites! Congrats! The bad news: Us guys who were helping to post others pics are slowly losing our usefulness AS far as the rocks go, that sure looks like that will be a beautiful batch. The 2 on the top right, if they aren't quartz, they are a heck of an impostor. The rock in the bottom pic reminds me of 3 possibles. Dacite (an off brand obsidian - western US), Coshocton (upper mercer from Ohio), Or Esopus (from NY State). Do you know where it might have come from? That would help some to ID it. There are a lot of look-a-likes out there. Again, great pics, ttyl, Don

That fourth pic looks very similar to the same stuff I've been finding around here. I have found some in blue, maroon, and pink/orange. As soon as I get a nice sunny day I'll take some pics of it to post. Where did you find it?

I got the same batch and they are great rocks. I think the bluish purple is purple lepidolite. It did not tumble well for me. Got chewed up quite a bit. Let me know if you have any better luck.
