MsAli rockjunquie hummingbirdstones fernwood , others Maybe I scored here. I joined one of the most popular glass fusing forums. I noticed the view count was off the chart high. It appears many of the members sell their wares. I know that few tumble polish glass and the tumbling opens a huge door to variety of fused glass that can be polished. Like really huge. Here is a screen shot of my first thread with a link to some of my best work. I hope it bedazzles them. Lets see where this goes. I am 99% certain they will be quite curious by the tumble polish method. I politely mentioned it is a proprietary process. Today is April 30 2018, curious about the views/contacts after 30 days... flickr link posted to them: www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/albums/72157689895637020/page1Jewelry page on glass fusing forum: LOL! I was wondering when you would find a place like that! Perfect fit. Just don't give away too much...... OR- perhaps you can sell tutorials! I used to do that and made good money. Write it once, sell it 1000 times. Another avenue to make some change. I wouldn't worry too much abt the competition. My experience is that people want to see how it's done, but most people won't invest the time, material, work and tools to do it themselves. Hopefully, your new board won't draw you away from here too much.

I think it's a great way to get some exposure in a different venue. I agree with Tela -- don't give away too much. I know you told them the process is proprietary, but you like to talk about it and it wouldn't take someone very long if they nosed around to find RTH and find your whole process set out in pictures for them to copy. I found that forum in about 30 secs. Hopefully Tela's right about people being curious but not motivated to do all the work!

Doubt it could compete with RTH in the slightest. Intersting idea about the tutorials. Would be flattering too. Sure do like the making of widgets for sale though. I was looking up 'supplies for jewelry cabs' on Etsy and found Tommy has cabs front and center on that huge category. How does he do that with a 178.000 items category ? He must have his search dialed in very well. That is impressive for such a big Etsy category.

The tumbling is so bizarre a process, nonconventional. Weird steps, weird slurries, weird machines, weird abrasives, weird adjustments etc. And unforgiving if a mistake is made. Doing the glass in large productive batches is not easy. The tumbling is the key and the most treacherous to figure out. Certain the glass fusion group could smoke me on creations in glass.

I don't think you would have to worry about much competition and it is completely different from what they do I really hope it drives up your sales.

If I had my weekends free, I'd buy 1000 of those. Glue on bails, and hit shows, cords in hand. Maybe even silver chains "by the inch".
I can visualize easily doing $5k plus in a busy two day show. Some nice vacation money.

Very interesting thread James. A man of many talents and questioning whether you are making art/not making art is a no no. You even make figuring stuff out an art form. Doesn't seem to matter what it is you are going to figure out 1. if it is possible 2. the best way to make it happen 3. make a lot of people say WOW. There are many art forms and you cover several. Most people don't cover one and many only think they do.
Going to be interesting to see how this turns out. Jim

I don't think you would have to worry about much competition and it is completely different from what they do I really hope it drives up your sales. People come up with brilliant products time and time and it never succeeds. Or someone with more advertising power steals and runs with it. My friend Steve is a genius electrical engineer and created product after product only to have it taken from him. He is stubborn and won't market and dislikes the sales scene. What does he expect ? He emailed me a new device just a couple of days ago that monitors your car battery and disconnects it to prevent theft from anywhere using your cell phone. Brilliant ! Bet it's his tenth invention. No, more than that. Geez, sitting at a booth in a festival for 10 hours a day would drive me crazy. Maybe if a partner was hired to man the booth and me supply the goods ? Split the income. Would suit me fine. Want a job Alison ?

If I didn't live so far away I'd do that on the weekends for you Although I'm not a fan of sitting for hours either

If I didn't live so far away I'd do that on the weekends for you Although I'm not a fan of sitting for hours either Split the money right down the middle 70/30, you get 70. Lucky for you math is not strong suit. You would, wouldn't you. You are too kind. I woke up early with a lip fetish and sawed a big bunch of test lips to melt for tomorrow. Mostly red lip stick but trying other colors. This time making best effort. wish me well. By the way red glass has a giant shortage in US because of pollution issues making it. EPA got involved. Making them out of foreign red glass for the most part. Or buying some in old private stock.

Wish you well with your lips. You could use all colors for lips. I’ve seen girls wearing black or blue lipstick!!

Wish you well with your lips. You could use all colors for lips. I’ve seen girls wearing black or blue lipstick!! Well, to each her own but there are some most unusual lipstick colors out there. Due to a shortage of red glass in this country these other colors may be the best direction. Doing some test lips in pink, purple and green Pat. Now that there is a subject to focus on I must figure out how to do them repetitively. I really have to cut everything to size and glue a lot of it together before melting. The glass needs to be real soft and flow real well and at the same time not dilute from one color to the next for definition. I was able to secure some fuse glass that is red on one side and black on the other hoping it will go well. I also need to master white teeth in-between.
