Brain storming on how to make blob patterns in a brick melt. Or polka dots. hmmm. Well defined polka dots/blob patterns are not so easy to do with conventional fusing methods. Sawing brick casts and polishing using lapidary methods opens up a whole new direction. Check out these glass rods that came with the art glass load. This should work for defined polka dots: Cut rods to brick mold length and make layers of rods separated by the single matrix color sheets. Melt Saw brick across rods.

Those look really cool, jamesp!
That last picture looks like blood cells as seen through a microscope.

Those look really cool, jamesp! That last picture looks like blood cells as seen through a microscope. Curious what a blood pathologist would think. Anemia, Leukemia, a new sickle cell anemia ? i have about 150 pounds of that not-so-pretty background pink glass. Trying to find a use for it. Christmas and Valentine colors for sure.

Definitely not Leukemia, no white cells to be found in there. Don't forget Easter -- perfect for that, too.

White cells ? It can be done hummingbirdstones. How about Dr. Zuess blob glass for a name ? Hey, I found another glass lover here in Atlanta that is a real artist. She focuses on recycle glass and Coca Cola glass(Atlanta being home of Coca Cola. Interesting in that she metalsmith's and uses lapidary methods. I hope to engage her. I hope she has some contacts that would man an art festival booth for my glass or possibly partner w/me. She may gag if she sees my glass lol. smartglassjewelry.com/pages/behind-scenes

I like your glass way better. Her glass is an interesting idea, but is kind of "blah" sedate in my book.

I like your glass way better. Her glass is an interesting idea, but is kind of "blah" sedate in my book. I get you. I know the art district she works out of. Her recycle theme would go over well in that part of town. Decatur is a big art center. Tons of shops. I was impressed the professional appearance of her website. Appears she has done well with the glass jewelry and that is encouraging. These are 1/2 to 1 inch glass blower's scraps. Hand picked with the color installed between 2 layers of clear glass in process of being tumble shaped/polished. They are a gift for the glass blower that gave me so much scrap. Eventually enough to fill a vase or put in a bowl for display. They can also be melted into blobs or fused together since they are compatible but will not fuse polish, so must be tumble polished. The patterns are not easy to do or impossible using fusing methods otherwise glass artist would probably be melt blobbing them.

jamesp I get the attraction for the eco-friendly folks and being in an art district. Glad she is doing well with her art, but I still prefer the colorful glass.
Love the glassblower's scraps you're tumbling for him. That's a great idea and I'm sure he'll really appreciate them!

Let me interrupt for a moment. About that little pric meth head. Out of a dozen neighbors I talked to it was the older group that caught him on their property. Like men over 75 years old. The neighbors that were younger or more capable never saw him on their property This enrages me.

Damn, those polka dots are cool! . Thanks Tela. It would be cool if they would make fusible colored glass marbles to create polka dots in a brick cast or plate fusions. I can break up some 3 mm plate and tumble it roundish. Or melt a thicker plate out of multiple plates and then break and tumble till roundish. In that case I guess you could melt several colors of plates together - break and tumble to get multi-colored polka dots. There are dozens of reactive colors now on the market. The dark ring caused by a reaction is cool.

That gal may be famous or hold celebrity status. 'Celebrity art', sells well because the artist is famous and not so much for it's artistic value he he. The glass blower Matt Janke said I did him a big favor hauling his glass scrap off but I love working with that glass. He does tons for the community. GOT to pay him back some how. I did give him and his 2 assistants each fire pits. These glass tumbles can be icing.(he may have more glass for me to haul off, yes I'm a scum bag).

Are those glass blowers scraps from fire mountain? This is scrap glass that a glass blower gave me Evan. Had to be 2 tons. About half is just clear, much of it has incredible colors/patterns.

You are not a scumbag in any possible way, jamesp. You give back (i.e., fire pits and now tumbled scraps). Real live scumbags just take.
