Oh yeah KD, cows are the original nibshits. Our beef calves always have to come over and watch us burn trash. God forbid we should burn something without their knowledge!!

VERY nice Jack,,,,,, I envy you living in a beautiful place like you do! I built our home back in "66" when I was 22 and just out of the US Navy.I built it in the country so we could have some privacy and raise our children here. Well here it is 2004 and the then country has turned into an area that I would like to leave! It is VERY heavily populated to say the least and the people who have moved into the "country" to get away from city life have brought their big city ideas and ways with them! A few months ago there was a drive by shooting just up the road where a farm used to be! Now it's a shooting gallery for 2 rival gangs that have "migrated" in! There ARE parts of Connecticut in the northwest and northeast that are still country but the price of land is outragous and homes start at $400,000 - $500,000 ! So I guess we'll just stay put and keep the doors locked. Progress,,,,,,,,,,,,Pfffffffffffttt Thanks,,,,,, Tom

magnificient photos, Jack, looks a lot like the Scottish Highlands and lochs, especially with all the sheep going down the road.
is the climate temperate? i see snow on the mountains, do you get measurable snow where you are? this is your winter now, huh? i've only been in the southern hemisphere once and the first thing i checked was how water swirled down drains in the opposite direction...HA! looked for the southern cross high in the sky and saw the moon upside down....way cool.
thanks again for giving us a grand peek, KD

That farmer had 4000 sheep on the road, had to move to fresh pasture. In that area they will get snow more often than we do. Yes our climate is temperate. It can freeze down to sealevel in the far south and it can snow too. as for myself , I live on an elevation of about 210 feet, and that difference is quite noticable when there is a snow fall. Last snow I have seen was may last year, we had about 2 inches and 2 days later it was all gone.We can get snow every year and through most of the year I have been told. The city of Auckland will never see snow , but may get some light frosts. North of Auckland they call it the winterless north as frost is unheard of. some more fotos follow. enjoy Jack 80 miles from here is an old train on the way to Queenstown. a small island with seals in the fiords of NZ dolphin jumping out of the water in doubtful sound fiord doubtfull sound more fotos next time Jack

That is quite a set up. You should get some good tumbled rocks out of those. Tami

Jack, thanks for the great pics! What a scenic place you live in. I'd love to travel there some day and see it in person. You know, isn't the internet neat when you think about it? We have friends all over the world in all different places and it's right here on this little screen. It makes the world a lot smaller. Great tumbling set up and a super farm Jack, cheers, don

Thanks again for looking and for your comments. Great !!! Next news item: My big tumbler gave me lots of flattened surfaces , more then acceptable I believe. So Talked to the previous owner and have been to town to get a bigger pulley . I recharged the tumbler and checked speed. Now doing 38 revs a minute compared to 30 before. Let it run for 24 hours and checked the rocks. I think that I am on the right track as there was still enough grit in and no thick paste yet , unlike before. The sound is more like multiple stones rolling instead of the occasional ones.
