Neighbor and I took her trailer to get some counter scraps. The pile was about 50 yards long, by 10 feet high by 12 feet wide. She wanted specific larger pieces and oval/round ones. I wanted ones for a specific landscaping project and lapidary work. Neither of us were disappointed. She brought her Great Pyrenees along. He had lots of fun. Even wandered into the office, lol. There were many pieces she wanted that we could not lift. I saw a wonderful piece of what they call Granite, with lots of blue and green flash. It was about 4.5’ long by 30” wide in perfect condition. My friend/neighbor who works there will be saving specific types of scraps for me, so they will not be ground up in the future. Most of my neighbor’s stuff is on the top of the trailer, as it was larger. I was able to get a few of my pieces out, which are pictured below. It is just too hot/humid for us to unload right now. For size reference, her trailer is 8’ long, by 5’ wide. 1 3 2 7 6 6 8 I have some larger pieces of this. Was drawn to it immediately. Honed finish on some, gloss on others. 5 Once we get everything unloaded, I will post more photos. We will be back, as grinder process is being delayed a while. Neighbor hopes to bring along some “strong guys” to get some larger pieces. Everything now unloaded. Neighbor had help at her place. We did it at mine. Neighbor hopes to get back there again, as she has her eye on some larger pieces. We will obviously need help loading those. The larger top piece to the left is Larvikite. The piece to the right is a larger example of some smaller ones I took. Has a honed surface. This pile has about 8 slabs, smallest being about 1’ by 20”. 10 Next large pile. About 12 pieces. 9 The small stuff. Ranges in size from 2” by 2” to 12” by 12”. A lot of Larvikite. 11

The green in this photo is granite and was known pretty commonly as Uba Tuba. It is from Brazil. Only reason I know is it was one variety we looked at back in the day.

I am always careful. Wear proper boots and gloves when climbing the pile. Might be the first person out there to have a 15' by 20' rock garden with ground cove plants, made mostly from Larvikite, lol. I have about 40 pieces of it, ranging from 2" by 2" to 1.5' by 2'. My patio extension will be a jigsaw puzzle of beautiful counter scraps with plants in between. If anyone is interested in some Larvikite, send me a PM. I am having too much fun with these scraps.

No photos of patio extension yet. First need to remove all the grass/sod and lay down landscape fabric. With heat indexes in the 100+ range the next few days, I will only be doing the essentials outside for a while. I can get closer photos of the counter scraps.

fernwood , the one you think has copper in it , thats a penny . I was going to mention the same thing as you. But, with fernwood not knowing me that well, I didn't want to offend in any way.

All in good fun. Note to self: Next time use a dime for size reference when referring to copper in rocks.
