Welcome from the SF bay area Laura! Nice of you to sign up and introduce yourself. If what Michael said above is true about your wrapping (and I don't doubt that it is), please feel free to jump in and post pictures for us to drool over

Hi from Southern California. I'm intrigued by your interest in the history of the Yellowstone hotspot as it affects Oregon gem locations. I'm familiar with its effects in eastern OR and central Idaho, and the great volcanic scar in Idaho's Snake River Plain. I even sold an article about it to National Geographic Magazine years ago. The geology is much better understood now than back then. Fascinating stuff for geology nerds like me.

Thanks for posting the video. It looks like exactly the stuff that interests me but I'm hearing-impaired and need closed captions. Unfortunately the vid doesn't have them. But I've done a lot of reading about current research. It's hard to explain to people that it's the ground under their feet that's moved -- not the hotspot. Wish I could hear the whole thing.

I will suggest closed captions to Nick. I will provide you some research. In essence, Lincoln City used to by 250km to the SW and the volcanism from 34-56myo was hotpspot related.

Thanks for the link but again I'm stymied. It appears membership is required for viewing the article and I found no way to join or create a login.

The pdf worked! Thanks! I'm too bleary-eyed to dig into its technicalities tonight but it's exactly the sort of article that fascinates me.

Welcome aboard from Virginia! Beautiful wraps! Wish I could take a tour, but it's a little out of my way.
