The gallery I sell in has asked for small, simple silversmithed pendants that will sell for $100 - $120. I started on 18 such pendants. I finished 6 and delivered them last week. I will finish the rest for the gallery & my own shows. 18 all soldered up & waiting to be trimmed flush
Edges filed & sanded flush
Finished 6 for the gallery
6 larger pendants finished yesterday for my show this weekend. L-R = Holt Canyon Jasp/agate, Kingman Turquoise, Unknown fortification agate, Tiffany Stone, Mexican Crazy Lace agate, Unknown plume-like agate
Happy Thanksgiving! Lynn

Beautiful pieces Lynn. You really have a good production line going there too.
A question if I may - it appears you trace each cab & cut the sheet to size right away. Is it difficult getting the bezel soldered on this way?
ETA: I went back and looked again and see you trim them after soldering.

Very nice work! You really picked some eye-catching stones for the gallery. I really appreciate the style of your settings. Very inspiring; unfortunately, at my current level of expertise, a good solid weld between a bezel and backplate is cause for a celebratory fist-pump in the air.

Nice work! Thanks for showing your process. I really like the blue one (larimar?) in the upper left of the ones you finished for the gallery.

Wow, lots of cabs to set in a short time. Nice looking settings. I love the unknown plume-like one. The setting really sets it off.
Good luck with your show!

Thank you all for the positive comments. Which show Lynn? Are you doing the Zion arts & crafts fair this weekend? Don - Yes, the Zion Arts show at the Springdale Community Center. it'll be my 6th year, (I think). Always a good show for me. Everyone's on vacation & eager to shop! Lynn

That is a bunch all at one time. Nice work. More silver work then I do all year right there. This is a motivational post to get some done though.
How big is that sheet of silver? I have been sticking to smaller sheets to avoid getting a larger throat jeweler saw.

That show always seems to be better when the weather is bad. Forces some of the tourists out of the canyon and into the show.

Looking closer at your photo of the unfinished pieces, I see that cabs are resting inside bezels that seem to be soldered. A few bezels seem shaped to fit, but others are circular with non-round cabs. If that is correct how have you determined bezel length? With freeforms or non-round cabs I usually wrap them with some old narrow pcb drafting tape to get an approximate bezel length. Then I always preform the bezel strip around the cabs for final trim to length and soldering.
Maybe I'm misinterpreting the photo.

opalpyrexia After soldering the bezel ends together I slide it onto a ring mandrel to file & sand out the extra solder at the seam. This reshapes the bezel to round. I then sand the edges of the bezel on a flat piece of wet/dry sandpaper on the table. Then I form the bezel around the stone. Then I solder it to the back. Lynn
