Stopped by the counter display area on my way into work today. Was not disappointed. No climbing the pile, but found lots of great pieces on the ground. The largest piece I took is about 8” long. I should be able to cut most with the tile saw, but they would be better oriented to cut with a rock saw.
1. The color is a little off on this. As the name implies, there are some blue areas. They appear white due to camera flash. Research showed it comes from Brazil. Found a few pieces.

2. Liked the color is this. The base color is dark brown. Golden flash areas and smaller blue areas.

3. This one appears to be manufactured. Some areas are clear. Love the areas with blue flash.
Found two smaller pieces of this. Am guessing it should be approached the same as Fordite or Bowlerite? Suggestions welcome.

4. Larvikite. Found a few smaller pieces of this. These have a tighter grain than my previous finds. Lots of blue flash.

5. Only found one like this. Love the dendrites. Showing both sides. It is harder than it looks. Could it be a form of stabilized sandstone for counters? Any thoughts appreciated.

6. Found about 4 pieces of this. Just love the colors. The vein of green quartz seemed unusual, considering the other colors. Any thoughts on an ID?

7. Bad photo of a cool piece. Base color is very dark green. Camera flash is blocking the green quartz area.

8. Loved all the little black dots in this one. Color is a little off. It is more red/orange.

So, that was my adventure today. Call it cheater rock hunting, lol. Brought home about 25 pieces and stayed clean for work. Just was a little wet, as there was light rain.
I love all the new varieties of counters that are on display. Many have a tighter grain/patterns and should work well for cabs or tumbles.
Have some new favorites for my planned kitchen remodel and master bathroom vanity counter.
Thanks for looking.
