EDIT - 05/18/2019 - Both units now sold.
Helping friends liquidate their equipment due to health problems. They have two Raytech GSP-8A units, well-kept and not heavily used.
One with two diamond wheels and two expandos. $750. SOLD
The other has one SC wheel, one diamond wheel and two expandos. $650. SOLD
The machines are located in Prescott Valley. If anyone's interested, just post here and I'll PM you in order according to the time stamps.

I wish I had room for one of those. That is exactly the kind of thing that I will be looking for next. I am starting to realize how valuable a grinder might be.
This might sound like a dumb question, but do you think that you can make cabochons with this unit? Or is it kind of best for something else. I see the ones online which have like 6-8 wheels on them for making cabs. I am just asking. Thank you.

Oh yeah, these are good for cabbing. The coarse (SC or diamond) wheels for shaping, then sanding belts in various grits on the expando drums. Polishing heads on the ends for final polish.
It took me a while to set up an arbor with an 8x3" expando on it, but after I used it I got spoiled by the 3" wide surface. SC belts are still a good way to go - inexpensive, and they work. I have yet to splurge on diamond belts, but they're available and would (hopefully) last a long time. |

Yeah, the only guy around here who has made a living from lapidary also uses these old Raytechs. He's been doing it for over 40 years.
I would buy these if we didn't already have a Max-Pro 8, NS-8, and a couple of Genies. |

Thanks for the quick replies. Honestly if I wasn't space challenged I would probably already be driving to pick up one right now. I have to decide if it's worth parking them in the side yard until I can figure something out. Thanks Vince.

I hooked up a plain Lortone arbor to a small aquarium pump recently. It's 80 gal/hr, and pulls from a bucket. Drains into another bucket.

Thanks for posting that, Bill. Sully is a great guy, and a straight shooter. No BS from him, and he always stands behind what he says.
His wife Judy is a great lady, too. That's why we wanted to help them get the word out about their equipment. Judy helped Robin and me get into the big club show as vendors when we were getting started. This is our way of making a small repayment for all their help. |
