Tommy has been working on updating the avatars and profiles of our departed members. Something tasteful. Just a nice reminder, for when we (and newcomers) run across their posts, that they may be gone, but they are not forgotten. They live on in their posts. Each of them have left a legacy of wisdom and camaraderie here. We have put together a list from memory, but if you can think of anyone who left without much notice, please post their info here, so that we can do them right. Also, and this may sound morbid, but bear with me.... PLEASE let someone in your circle of family and friends know that we, your rock family, want to know if something should happen to you. I have some spiral bound index cards that I keep passwords in. I also put the email addresses of all my "virtual friends" who are just as important to me as my flesh and blood ones. I have told my husband about it and let him know to notify these people if something happens to me. I don't know about y'all, but I have had the unfortunate experience of thinking I had been blown off when, in fact, the person passed away. He was a member here, actually. Don't leave and let people wonder. Add RTH to your list of contacts. We've all made rock buddies here, remember that we care, too. Most of us are getting up there, so it's just something to think about. Thanks.

mohs when thinking of you the word anonymous has never crossed my mind. As far as memorializing those who have gone before us, I think it's a great idea. I am certain those who I know about are already on Tommys list, but I'll post again If I remember one.

Thanks Bill but although this was something I had thought about a few times especially after JohnW passed, it is Tela who deserves the credit for bringing it up for discussion and getting the ball rolling on it. rockjunquie thank you for this post - I have done this - I've said it to Eva more than a few times that if I ever drop dead she needs to get on here and tell you guys. So far the list I have is: Don (jakesrocks) sandsman snowdog JohnW Ralph Tom Sheltie

That's who I have thought of so far. How far back do you want to go?
While I didn't know her, Cher was a prolific poster (#6 on the post count), so she has quite the legacy of posts here. Pretty sure she passed away as well.
What rockjunquie said - ask a family member or friend to let us know if/when something happens to you. So glad that johnw 's daughter contacted us afterwards.

That's who I have thought of so far. How far back do you want to go? I would say it's far enough unless someone was close to someone who passed and wants them to get the recognition.

A wonderful and thoughtful thing to do. On so many forums, people just stop posting and nobody offers to remember the fallen.

If I ever cross the Rainbow Bridge, there is no one to pass on the message. No Family, Girlfriend not capable of logging onto the internet or knowing the sites that I visit, no close friends. So If I disappear, you will have to assume the worst.

Easy to make arrangements ahead of time with your lawyer or the local mortician. Could be just a one & done to let us know ya kicked but you never know . . . they might get a hankerin’ to roll a few rocks once they see The Duke’s handiwork.

So If I disappear, you will have to assume the worst. I understand. A lot of people are in the same spot. Not everyone is a gregarious, social butterfly. Might I suggest, if this is not too morbid or personal, that you write your own obituary and mention that you are a member here? If you disappear, we can do a google search to get the sad news. I'm not just blowing smoke, we do care.

If memory serves gingerkid was having eye surgery for a rare complication. She was very concerned about loosing her sight. She was also close to jakesrocks as many of us were. She seemed to disappear about the time Don passed.

If I don't respond to a pm or a question to me in a thread within 24 hours presume I have departed. I am used to very fast game chat, so I check in often. I hope I live a long life, but that doesn't mean I will.
Salute to all those fellow rock people that have laid down their tools and gone to a hopefully happier place where they can laugh at all our mistakes and enjoy the rest of eternity.
