I to have nobody to pass the word on for me, so I’d like to leave this behind in remembrance of my time here, should anything ever happen and I disappear.
As you can tell by my avatar. I'm not originally from this planet and was quickly losing hope for your race after many investigative visits, but then I came across these things that you refer to as rockhounds. Soon, after many days of scouring through your information highway here on the internet. I came across this web site and spent many hours reading and researching, these so called rockhounds and their hobby. I became very intrigued by all the different varying nature of all the rocks and minerals here on your planet, the fun and beauty they offered and all of the friendly, loving people here turning them into works of art and making them even more beautiful than they already were. I quickly became addicted. So much so, that I made the decision to relocate to your planet, to try to collect and polish as many of these rocks as possible, and to befriend as many of these hoopy rockhounds to share my newly discovered hobby with.
My first task was to find a good location to try and blend in. I've choosen New Jersey, for it's wide disparity of folk and numerous amount of people for such a tiny state. I figured this would be a good place to hide from the government and the military, as for trying to find me, would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack, as you humans would say. Though little did I know that it was a really poor choice for trying to find my own rocks, as New Jersey doesn’t really have much to offer in great finds.
After settling in. I started to collect many of these rocks and continue to do so today. After many years of residing on your planet. I've come to find, that I really enjoy some of your older cartoons as well. There's nothing like sharing stories and chatting with the friends that I've made here, while watching these old cartoons and waiting for my rocks to finish tumbling. It really brings a sense of joy to my spirit. That's unless Nascar is on. Nascar takes precedence over all. Watching you crazy humans drive in circles at 200 miles an hour and running each other off the track is just priceless. However ridiculous it may seem.
As for my future objectives. I plan to collect, as many of these rocks and minerals as possible and to some day soon return to my planet, to share what I have learned with my colleagues. For as much as I have enjoyed my stay here and will be sad to leave. I feel that if a lot of things don't change within your society. That all of these things will soon come to an end and man-kind will suffer a huge consequence. I truely hope that you can find it in your hearts, to preserve such a beautiful planet and learn to co-exist more efficiently.
It has been a real pleasure to discover, that there are some really kind souls within your species and having the chance to befriend some of you. I thank you all for the experiences that you have shared with me and the warmth that you have kindly spread and am honored to call you my friends.
Once you have gained the knowledge to ascend. I will be there to greet you with a smile and some stellar shiny rocks.
Hoopy rockhounding and peace to all, rocksinnj - Bill
P.S. - For those of you wondering what hoopy means. Well it's from an excellent book called, "White Plume Mountain", by Paul Kidd. The fairy character Escalla in the book, uses the word all the time, and well it kind of means, "Happy or something good" and has stuck with me ever since.
It's also used in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", and believe it actually originated from these books, but I first came across it in the book above.
So stay hoopy my friends and spread the love. -rocksinnj (Aka - Bill)

I might not be around here for a while, but if I get any PMs I will get an email. I need to focus on keeping the business together and focus less on rocks, and the forum. I will be back, no worries, but my worries lie elsewhere right now. It's a tough time, just hope things get better fast. Thank you all for being you

yep, Cher was such a good member (and friend). Sands, I still miss him. And I think Shorty is gone as well. I really liked Snowdog. He sent me a whole box of his rocks.

So far the list I have is: Don (jakesrocks) sandsman snowdog JohnW Ralph Tom Sheltie
That's who I have thought of so far. How far back do you want to go?
While I didn't know her, Cher was a prolific poster (#6 on the post count), so she has quite the legacy of posts here. Pretty sure she passed away as well.
What rockjunquie said - ask a family member or friend to let us know if/when something happens to you. So glad that johnw 's daughter contacted us afterwards.
Yes Cher passed some years ago now. I never met her personally but was a great virtual friend of hers and we traded a bunch of rocks. BearCreekLapidary should ge on this list as well, an awesome Lapidary.
