The other half of my two cents is about putting notes in listings. Just yesterday I received a two-star negative review where the customer stated: The thing is I pointed it out in the description with the following statement: I have contacted her and hope she will respond humanely but I'm not holding my breath. I guess my point is - this has never happened to me before but it's proof that there will be times when people aren't reading the ad correctly so it's better to err on the side of fixing it as you see it instead of assuming folks will read your alert of it as a flaw. I'm guilty of not reading thoroughly myself - a few weeks ago I came across an Etsy ad that showed a hand holding four slabs of a rare material for a ridiculously low price and I literally could not buy it fast enough. Only after buying it and finally reading the ad it clearly stated they were selling ONE of the slabs shown in the hand. Luckily they let me cancel but dang... lesson learned for me for sure. I listed a MH cab and heeding your advice, I took detailed pictures of every defect including crop and enlarge and marking with paint.

I'm not a cabber or a seller, but if you guys know that people are not reading your text descriptions, make it known already on the photo that it's a B grade product or that it has flaws. Take photo on a sheet of paper, on which you write #B grade, and draw an arrow CRACK HERE --> pointing on the exact place on the stone. So they can't possibly say they didn't know. If they saw the photo, if they saw the stone, they must have seen the warning.
Just an idea.

I performed trims saw surgery on Tuesday and reshaped and redomed today. The design says "recut after disaster". I worked on it through 325 and gave my thumb the rest of the day off. After taking it a down as far as I could an area 1x3mm remains with a few small pits. I think the material is nice enough to finish the cab and sell it with disclosure.
I think even with the pits, it's a nice cab. I would mention the pits and tell them which picture you can see it in. I bet it will sell.

This Mt. Tahoma had a lot of problems; vug in the middle, flat dome. Lumpy dome like a three hump camel, too high girdle and not square girdle. I must have given up on the vug or was on heavy drugs when I cut and polished it. The good news was that it was from a thick slab and nice material. Tahoma is a jasper agate and a small percentage of the cabs I cut had a high agate content. I showed the cab to my wife and she said tha I could fix it and get $5 for it. After 20 minutes work she said nice cab. Shape is original and scene improved after griding. It's easier on my thumb to fix than cut. Through 325.

My next project is a nice Morrisonite that had an ugly vug that was cut over 10 years ago. I ground it down and it is now a grouping of pits (pen line in pen circle). My wife said the cabochon is misshapen and marked the fixes in pencil. I'll solve two problems recut it as a tongue if it fits or a freeform eliminating the pits. I don't have any Morrisonite slabs as nice as this material so it will be a good use of time.

Your descriptions crack me up. They look good to me and I don't see the faults. I believe you that they are there, but I can't see them.
The morrisonite is very nice!

I didn't post a before picture of the Tahoma. I don't know if the flaws would show in a picture. The Morrisonite had a very visible vug and I didn't post it. I posted the after and since I knew where to look, the flaws stood out. I blew up the area and it is out of focus but the pits show.
