I haven't spent as much time on RTH lately because I've been so busy making videos. I'm either recording video or editing it. Anyhow, I just did something really fun. I soaked a chain coral fossil in acid to eat away the matrix rock and leave behind just the chain coral. I tried this once several years ago and then dropped the finished rock. It shattered into a million (more or less) pieces. I guess I was just disgusted and haven't tried again until now. This one hasn't been dropped yet.

Thanks for the video and explanation. I would have thought the acid would eat the coral. Hmmm. Wrong!
Need to find a piece of coral and try it. Which acid did you use? Thanks.

I want to see this, but received a renderer error message telling me to restart computer. I'm not sure how to help you out with that. 168 people have watched it on YouTube so far, so I think it's working.

Was able to see the video. That turned out great. What was the matrix that was eaten away by the acid?

Love how that turned out Nice video too, I cracked up laughing at your part where you added safety gear. That was corny, but I'm a junior high math teacher, so that's just how I am.

That was really cool. Did I miss the part where you added polyurethane?
I thought the video magic with safety gear was funny, too.

Just had a chance to watch this in its entirety, nicely done on all fronts. Your time away from here seems well spent as your videos keep looking better and better. Good luck with the channel, looks like your well on your way! Al Forgot to mention that I am very impressed that you have Olivio as a sponsor now, they must have paid a mint for that product placement.

Bought a gallon at Home Depot for about $8. I have enough to last a long, long time. I get muriatic (hydorchloric) acid at the pool supply. Two gallons for about $6 and it is supposed to a lot more concentrated than the hardware store stuff. Then I dilute it with water to control the reaction better when sin git to clean rocks or remove fossils from limestone or to create relief with fossils.
